Perhaps a neutral site is just what the doctor ordered for the Los Angeles Angels. Billed as the MLB Little League Classic, the Angels will face Cleveland Sunday night in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, home of the Little League World Series.
Cleveland (60-61, 31-27 home) has become a place where Angels fear to treat. Well, at least the Los Angeles Angels (62-63, 29-33 away) don’t look forward to their visits to the Ohio city.
LA’s American League team has dropped seven games in a row at Cleveland, including the first two of this three-game series. Their last win in the Ohio city was a 7-4 verdict on August 3, 2018.
Going back to 2014, the Angels have dropped 17 of 18 games at Cleveland. No wonder then that even with the neutral site, oddsmakers are establishing the Clevelanders as the -130 betting choice to complete the three-game sweep of LA with another victory on Sunday. Cleveland is 36-21 as a favorite this season.

A rash of injuries in the Cleveland rotation ended up moving right-hander Cal Quantrill out of the bullpen and into the starting five. Since May 31 he’s made 15 of his last 16 appearances as a starter.

Quantrill is 3-1 as a starter and has won his last three decisions. He’s worked at least five innings in each of his past nine starts. Cleveland has lost five of his last six starts, even though the only decision that Quantrill figured in was a 6-1 win over the Detroit Tigers on August 6. The club is 10-23 in the 33 games in which Quantrill has appeared.
He’s been scuffling his last two starts. Quantrill allowed five earned runs and 11 hits over 11 innings of work. He’d surrendered just three earned runs over his previous five starts, a span that covered 30 innings.
Great night on the mound for Jose Suarez tonight in the Bronx. Matched Gerrit Cole all night long, just needs the help of the offense to pick him up 🙏

Lefty Jose Suarez has lost his last two starts and in four of his last five trips to the mound. He’s allowed 17 earned runs in 25 innings over that span. The Angels scored a grand total of four runs in his four losses.
Suarez was moved from the bullpen to the starting rotation on July 5. In seven starts, he’s 2-5 with a 5.45 ERA.

Angels vs Cleveland Pick
Cleveland won the first two games of this series by a combined scoreboard margin of 14-2.
Neither pitcher has enjoyed any success against this opponent. Quantrill faced the Angels out of the bullpen during a 7-4 loss at LA on May 17. He worked one inning, allowing three hits and one earned run. That’s his only career appearance against them.
Suarez has made one career appearance against Cleveland, a start on September 10, 2019. He lasted only three innings, allowing six earned runs and took the loss. He only gave up four hits. However, one was a homer. Suarez also walked two and hit three batters with pitches.
Pick: Cleveland (-130).
