Boston vs Chicago Probable Pitchers

This is the third tour of duty with the Red Sox during the 18-season big-league career of veteran southpaw Rich Hill. He launched life in The Show pitching four seasons for the Cubs from 2005-08, so he knows the friendly confines well.

Hill is 11-6 with a 3.71 ERA at Wrigley over 34 appearances, 31 of them starts. He’s showing one complete game and one shutout among those numbers. Hill’s also 29-15 with a 3.78 ERA in 113 career day-game appearances.

Sampson has registered one win in his last 13 MLB appearances. Six of those trips to the bump have come as a starter. He’s 3-3 with a 3.95 ERA in 18 day-game appearances, which include nine starts.

Red Sox vs Cubs Prediction

Something is going to have to give in this game. Chicago played Thursday night. Boston had the day off. The Cubs are an MLB best 2-0 SU this season when playing with a rest disadvantage. However, the Red Sox are a perfect 3-0 SU with a rest advantage during the 2022 campaign.

Boston has hit Sampson hard. As well, Hill looks to be a triple threat. He’s showing solid career numbers against the Cubs, at Wrigley and in the daytime.

Pick: Boston Red Sox ML (-130)
