The ALDS series between the Cleveland Guardians (4-1, 3-0 home) and New York Yankees (1-2, 0-1 away) has been all about ending hoodoos for Cleveland.

Already in this series, the Guardians brought to a halt a six-game MLB postseason losing streak to the Yankees and also a three-game skid in home playoff games against New York.

If things do indeed happen in threes, perhaps Game 4 of this best-of-five set will see Cleveland stopping another slide. The Guardians are 0-3 in the last three games in which they were in a position to eliminate the Yankees.

Oddsmakers are not expecting this streak to succumb. It’s the  Yankees  are set as -178 road favorites in Game 4.

In the MLB lineups, playoff Gerrit Cole showed up for the Yankees in Game 1 against the Guardians. They’ll need the flame-throwing right-hander to be dealing again in Game 4.

Working 6.1 innings, Cole allowed one earned run on a solo homer while striking out eight batters. Cole is now 4-1 in his last five MLB postseason decisions and 7-2 over his last nine outcomes.

Facing Cleveland three times in postseason play, Cole is 2-0 with a 1.77 ERA and 33 strikeouts in 20.1 innings on the mound. Both of those wins have come while wearing Yankee pinstripes.

Yankees vs Guardians Prediction

Saturday’s Game 4 loss for the Yankees was an MLB rarity. New York out-homered Cleveland 3-0. Teams winning the home-run battle are 36-6 SU in the MLB postseason. But with injuries crippling the bullpen, New York is looking vulnerable. The Yankees blew a two-run ninth-inning lead.

Cleveland saw 17 rookies make their MLB debut this season, seven of whom are on the playoff roster. One of them, RF Oscar Gonzlaez, has knocked three game-winning hits in the postseason, including both Guardians wins in this series.

Pick: Cleveland Guardians ML (+150)
