At first place in the NBA’s Eastern Conference, the Chicago Bulls have shown themselves to be title contenders this season.

In eighth place, the Toronto Raptors are now showing themselves to be a team no one wants a part of these playoffs.

The two teams collide Thursday at Scotiabank Arena at 7:30pm ET, a makeup game from Dec 16 when the Bulls were COVID-decimated.

Toronto Raptors Betting Analysis

You can’t knock this team’s resilience. The Raps have ripped off three straight wins in four days, a grueling test of will and effort. It started with a triple overtime win over the Miami Heat, followed with a road win against the Atlanta Hawks to snap their 7-game win streak.

Right back at it Tuesday night, they beat the Heat again 110-106, sending Miami to their third straight loss, allowing the Bulls to leap over them to first in the standings.

Gary Trent Jr was the offensive machine for Toronto again, pumping in a game-high 33 points off a crisp 11-for-20 from the field, including 6-for-10 from downtown.

He’s now gone five straight games hitting at least five moneyballs, and put up 30+ in each, which ties the all-time franchise mark. He’ll try to break it with the co-record holder DeMar DeRozan in the building.

Pascal Siakam had a do-everything kind of night to support Trent, with 16 points, 14 boards, four assists and three steals. Fred VanVleet added 21.

Winners of four of their last five, Toronto’s only blemish during this run was against the Bulls, who beat them 111-105 on January 26.

Chicago Bulls Betting Analysis

Chicago has also won four of their last five, and they’re showing plenty of support to stars DeRozan and Zach LaVine. LaVine did end up on the injury report with a sore back, but he’s probable against Toronto.

Without Lonzo Ball (knee) and Alex Caruso (wrist) out an extended period, rookie Ayo Dosunmu has carved out a key starting guard role. Last time out against the Magic, he had 13 points and nine assists as the Bulls cruised to a 126-115 win.

It’s the second straight game he’s led the team in assists, dropping 11 dimes in a 130-116 win over Portland.

Of course, there’s not a lot of pressure when Chicago’s studs are doing most of the heavy lifting. DeRozan poured in a game-high 29 points, adding 10 rebounds and five dimes. At 32, this may be his best season ever, and he’s even shown up on the 2022 NBA MVP odds.

LaVine had 26 points, five rebounds and three assists, while Nikola Vucevic had 18 points and 13 rebounds.

Chicago is just 13-12 on the road this year, and 12-12-1 ATS away from home on the season. DeRozan has averaged 23 points, 6.6 rebounds and 7.8 assists  in eight career games against his former team.

He led the Bulls with 29 points, seven boards and seven assists in their last win against Toronto.

Look for Chicago’s stars to close out what should be a tight game between two teams playing really well.

The pick: Bulls +2.5 (-110)
