Much like the start of their season, the Cleveland Cavaliers’ 5-game road trip is going pretty well too.

Cleveland will be looking for their ninth straight win and a perfect 3-0 start to this trip when they visit the LA Clippers.

Both teams will be playing the second night of a back-to-back.

Cleveland beat up on the Lakers Sunday, while the Clips’ three-game win streak was stopped at the hands of the surprising Utah Jazz.

It all gets underway Monday (November 7) from Cyrpto.com Arena at 10:30pm ET, in a game you can see live on NBA TV.

Cleveland Betting Outlook

Since an opening-night loss to the Raptors, the Cavaliers have reeled off eight straight wins to vault up the East ladder. Only the 9-0 Milwaukee Bucks have more wins than them.

The offseason trade that has landed them all-star Donovan Mitchell has come up aces thus far, as the ex-Jazz guard is averaging 31.1 points and 7,1 assists, which are both career-highs. He’s also grabbing 4.1 rebounds and shooting a personal-best 48.1% from the field.

After sitting out the last game against Detroit with an ankle injury, Mitchell returned to the lineup and scored 33 points and five rebounds in a 114-100 win over the Lakers. It was the sixth time in eight starts he’s crossed the 30-point plateau.

All-star Darius Garland, who had played just one of the previous seven games as he’s dealt with an eye injury, added 24 points and seven dimes. Big man Jarrett Allen posted 16 points and 11 rebounds, the sixth time in eight starts he’s posted a double-double.

On the year, he’s averaging 13.6 points and 11.4 rebounds on a crisp 57.3% from the floor.

Defensively, they held the Lakers to just 100 points. On the year, they allow the second-lowest scoring average, with teams putting up just 103.6 points against.

Los Angeles Betting Analysis

After a three-game win streak got them over .500, LA couldn’t close against a surprisingly good Jazz team, who used an 18-6 fourth quarter run to pull away in a 110-102 win. The Clippers entered the game as 4.5-point favorites.

With Kawhi Leonard (knee) out indefinitely, it was again Paul George who led the way with 34 points, eight rebounds and four assists. As a team, LA shot 49.4% from the field, but they continue to struggle from distance, hitting just 8-for-33, a lowly 24.2% clip.

Three other Clipper starters scored in double digits, including Marcus Morris Sr, who had 18 points, three rebounds and three assists. Ivica Zubac had 12 points, nine boards and three steals.

LA’s success can mostly be attributed to a strong defense, which is ranks fifth, allowing a 106.2 average. They’re second in three-point shooting defense, holding clubs to a 32.5% mark, and teams overall shoot 43.5% from the field, which is third in the NBA.

Their offense remains a work in progress, as they’re last in scoring, putting up just 102.3 points per game — a whopping four points worse than the next closest team.

Cavaliers vs Clippers Prediction

The Cavaliers have no such offensive problems, as they combine their sturdy defense with the sixth-best scoring average in the NBA at 116.5 points per contest.

How good has Cleveland been? Seven of their eight wins have been by at least nine points, which has helped them build the best point differential in the league at +12.3.

So far this year, the Cavs are 1-0 both straight up and against the spread on the second night of a back-to-back, while the Clippers are 1-1 SU and 0-2 ATS. Last year, Cleveland was 5-8-2 ATS in the same scenario, while LA was 7-7 ATS.

Another strange line, considering Cleveland is as top-end as they currently come in the NBA. Without Kawhi, it’s hard to see how the Clips get enough offense. Cleveland doesn’t give up a lot of extras : they’re a top-5 unit in 2nd-chance points allowed and points off turnovers.

It’s a a pretty easy pick for the visitors.

Pick:

  • Cavaliers +1 (-110); 1 unit to win 0.91 units
  • NBA Betting Record: 5-4 ATS, 1-0 ML, +1.03 units
