Odds as of February 11th at FanDuel Sportsbook
Jokic has seen his price improve in the NBA MVP odds, and he’s projected for a near triple-double against the Celtics.
Celtics Contain Jokic
It’s well known at this point that Nikola Jokic is truly an all-around threat. He scores, facilitates, and rebounds. With the Nuggets missing both Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr, the load has been on Jokic’s shoulders even more and he’s had no problem picking up the slack. However, The Joker isn’t scoring at the same ridiculous rate lately.
The reigning MVP has only hit the over in points in two of his last five games and was held to just 21 points earlier this week against the Knicks. Don’t get me wrong, Jokic is still impacting the game from a playmaking and rebounding standpoint. He’s just not torching his opponents right now.
On Friday, Denver plays a Celtics team who is riding a six-game winning streak and looks to be really coming into their own. Boston also possesses the third-best defense in the league. Jokic will put up big numbers across the board, I just think the C’s could hold him to under 24.5 points.
- Pick: Nikola Jokic Under 24.5 Points (-110)
Giddey Hits the Over in Assists
Thunder rookie Josh Giddey is enjoying a fine rookie campaign, averaging 12.1 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 6.2 assists. Across the board, he’s making his presence felt on his young OKC team who have some intriguing pieces on their roster. While Giddey isn’t one to get buckets at a high level, he is arguably the Thunder’s best creator.
The Aussie has hit the over in dimes in three straight outings, dishing out a total of 21 assists during that span. Among the opponents were the Raptors and Warriors, two pretty decent teams. On Friday, Oklahoma City faces the 76ers, who pride themselves on defense.
However, Giddey notched seven dimes the last time he played against Philly. There’s huge value in the over in assists here for the 19-year-old, especially since Shai Gilgeous-Alexander remains out.
- Pick: Josh Giddey Over 5.5 Assists (-138)
