The reeling Golden State Warriors (10-13, 5-7 away, 10-13 ATS) face the hottest team in the league on Thursday night when they head to crypto.com Arena for a date with the LA Clippers (13-10, 9-3 home, 10-13 ATS). Winners of five straight, the red-hot Clippers own the longest win streak in the NBA, while Golden State has dropped six of ten and 11 of its last 15 games to fall three games below .500 and 2.5 games behind Phoenix for the all-important #10 seed in the Western Conference.

The Warriors vs Clippers odds favor the home team by 5.5. Tip-off is set for 7:40 pm PT/10:40 pm ET.

Warriors Lose Another Nail-Biter to Suns

While the Warriors have lost four of their past six games, those four losses have come by a combined  seven points. That includes a one-point setback at this same Clippers team on Dec. 2nd (113-12) and, most recently, a 119-116 loss at Phoenix on Tuesday, a game the Warriors led by as many as 13 in the first half.

Golden State continues to get All-Star-calibre production from Steph Curry (29.1 PPG, 5.0 RPG, 4.4 APG with a 22.7 Player Efficiency Rating) and very little from anyone else. Klay Thompson has become public enemy number-one in the Bay Area, averaging just 15.4 points points per game while shooting a career-worst 39.7% from the field and 34.3% from three. Thompson has averaged at least 20 PPG in each of the last seven seasons. His PER is at a horrendous 10.1, which is 2.6 lower than any other season and 6.0 lower than his career average.

Clippers Keep Streak Alive, But Lose PG13

LA stretched its win streak to five on Tuesday with a 119-99 demolition of the Kings which was over by halftime (70-48) but the win came at a price. Paul George only played 16 minutes due to a groin injury and he is listed as questionable in today’s NBA lineups (though he did participate in shootarounds this morning).

George is second on the team in scoring (22.6 PPG), third in rebounding (5.9 RPG), and third in assists (4.0 APG) while averaging a team-high 35.1 minutes per game.

Thankfully for the Clippers, Kawhi Leonard (22.6 PPG, 5.8 RPG, 3.6 AGP) is heating up at just the right time. The five-time All-Star has scored 31-plus points in each of his past three games and is averaging 35.3 PPG in that span.

While the Clippers are mid-pack in terms of win percentage (15th at .565) they have the sixth-best point differential in the NBA (+4.8) and the sixth-best Net Rating (4.6).

Player props and odds from the DraftKings Sportsbook app on Dec. 14.

With George’s status in question, the available NBA player props for this game are more sparse than usual, with just three players listed on each team. Curry and Leonard both have point totals of 27.5. LAC center Ivica Zubac has a game-high rebound over/under of 9.5.

Golden State Warriors vs LA Clippers Prediction

A common theme throughout the Warriors’ slump is blown leads. In each of their last four losses, they have taken a lead into halftime, including a 67-48 lead over the Clippers when they met at crypto.com Arena less than two weeks ago.

Golden State’s odds to win the first half tonight are priced at +135, and that is my favorite bet in tonight’s game, especially with George’s status in jeopardy.

Warriors vs Clippers pick: Warriors first-half moneyline (+135)

Sascha Paruk’s 2023-24 NBA betting record:

  • 8-5-2 ATS (+2.26 units)
  • 5-3 ML (+2.02 units)
  • 3-9 player props (-6.27 units)

All wagers one unit unless expressly stated otherwise.
