This is probably not the tank job fans of the Utah Jazz expected.

Utah was the first to seven wins in the West, and are tied for the second most wins in the NBA, trailing only the Milwaukee Bucks.

After dispatching the Lakers Friday night, they’ll take on the other Crypto.com Arena tenant, the LA Clippers.

The Clips are on a season-best three-game win streak and they’ve had to do it without 2-time Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard.

It all gets underway at Sunday (November 6) at 10pm ET, in a game that can be seen live on NBA League Pass.

Utah Betting Outlook

After dealing Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell in separate deals, the Jazz were expected to be one of the worst teams in the NBA.

They were supposed to be in the running for Victor Wembanyama, the blue-chip prospect considered the consensus top pick in the 2023 NBA Draft.

Instead, a lineup dotted with veterans expected to fill other championship-contending rosters is fifth in the NBA in scoring at 117 points per game, and fifth in assists, doling out 28.5 dimes per contest.

Defensively, they’re holding their own, 12th in defensive rating and points allowed (111.8), while holding teams to 33.1% shooting from distance, which ranks sixth in the league.

Lauri Markkanen has been the closest thing to a star on this team in the early going, putting up a career-best 22.2 points, to go along with 9.4 rebounds while shooting 50.7% from the field. Against the Lakers, he went for 27 points while tying a season-best mark with 13 rebounds.

He had a lot of support, as three other starters scored in double figures, including Jordan Clarkson, who had 20 points, seven rebounds and three assists. Collin Sexton came off the bench to score 17, with four boards and three dimes.

Los Angeles Betting Analysis

After a shaky 2-4 start, the Clippers have climbed back over the .500 mark and currently sit in one of the play-in spots.

The team has had to go most of the season without Kawhi Leonard, who has only played twice in a reserve role this season, as he works his way back from a surgically repaired knee. He has missed six straight, and is out for Sunday.

Fortunately, the Clips have another star in tow, and Paul George has answered the bell. Last time out in a 113-106 win against the Spurs, he went for 32 points with six assists, drilling 4-for-6 from downtown.

PG-13 has starred during this win streak, including two back-to-back victories over the Rockets, averaging 31.7 points, 5.0 rebounds and 6.3 assists.

Still, the Clippers are desperate for offense, as they are the lowest scoring team in the NBA, putting up just 102.3 points per game, especially struggling from beyond the arc, their 32.9% mark ranking 26th.

Fortunately, their defense is on point, with the 4th-best defensive rating, holding teams to 106.2 points per game (4th). They’re also top-3 in both field goal and three-point shooting percentage allowed.

Jazz vs Clippers Prediction

If you’ve been riding the Jazz train early on, you’ll know they’re both 7-3 SU and against the spread. While Utah evened their record at 3-3 on the road SU, they’re a very respectable 4-2 ATS.

On the season, the Clippers are just 3-6 ATS, the 5th-worst mark in the league, and they are 0-2 ATS as the home favorite.

The Clips are playing better, but they beat the last-place Rockets twice to build their streak. It’s surprising how much value that appears to bear here, as Utah has been consistently good all year, with just one loss in double digits.

Take those points as a gift and go with the Jazz.
