  • The New York Knicks are 1.5-point road favorites Tuesday when they visit the Orlando Magic
  • Orlando is returning home after a successful 3-1 road trip
  • Read below for the Knicks vs Magic preview with odds and prediction

With a win Tuesday, the New York Knicks (29-26, 15-11 away), can vault past the Miami Heat and into the sixth spot in the East, above the play-in fray.

They’ll have to contend with Orlando Magic (22-32, 13-13 home), who are theoretically within range of the play-in, but would probably just like to add another high draft pick to what’s looking like one of the best young cores in the league.

New York is coming off a huge win over the Philadelphia 76ers, while the Magic return home after a 3-1 road trip, including wins over the Sixers and Minnesota Timberwolves, two teams occupying postseason spots.

It all gets underway Tuesday (Feb 7) at 7pm ET from the Amway Center, in a game you can see live on NBA League Pass.

The NBA odds have the visiting Knicks as 1.5-point favorites, with a total set at 227.

New York is the lone team in the NBA to have a better road record (15-11) than home mark (14-15).

Orlando is 13th in the East, but they’ve been playing their best ball of the season. Since December 7, when they were 5-20, the Magic have gone 17-12 over the next 29.

New York Betting Analysis

It was easily the Knicks’ best come-from-behind win on the year, rallying from 21 points down to upend the Sixers 108-97.

Julius Randle led the way with 24 points, nine rebounds and seven assists, while Jalen Brunson had 21 points, five boards and seven dimes.

Illness knocked RJ Barrett out of the lineup, but a bevy of reserves picked up the slack, with Evan Fournier going for 17 and Miles McBride adding 14, the two bench players combining to hit eight three-pointers.

Barrett is still listed as questionable, while the Knicks also have to deal with no Mitchell Robinson (thumb), out until late February.

Perhaps the most impressive aspect of New York’s win was their defense, holding Philly to 40.5% shooting, and a brutal 7-for-25 effort from distance, a paltry 28% clip.

It’s the first time New York has held an opponent under 100 points since doing it in back-to-back games: New Year’s Eve against the Rockets and January 2 vs the Suns.

Orlando Betting Analysis

There haven’t been many times lately where we could’ve said things are on the ups for the Magic, but we’re here.

Orlando dumped the Hornets 119-113 to finish off a very productive road trip, winning three of their last four. They return home, where they’ve also won three of their last four.

Much of the jubilation is over the play of rookie Paolo Banchero, the overwhelming favorite in the 2023 NBA Rookie of the Year odds. He was the driving force in the win over the Hornets, finishing with 22 points, 10 boards and five assists.

Wendell Carter was equally impressive, pouring in 20 points and adding 12 rebounds. The Magic shot it poorly on the night from three, hitting just 8-for-23 (34.8%), but they made up for it with their work from the stripe, going 27-for-30.

Orlando’s been solid at home lately, going 9-4 in their last 13, scoring 117.7 points per game, while shooting 50.1% from the field and 39.7% from distance.

Knicks vs Magic Betting Prediction

This is the second of three meeting between the two teams this season, with the Knicks winning the opener 115-102.

New York has not been a great bet against the lesser teams in the league lately, going 0-4 against the spread in their last four against teams with a losing record.

Orlando has actually risen to the occasion, running a 13-3 ATS mark in their last 16 games against teams with winning records, and 6-0 ATS in their last six home games vs teams with a winning road record.

Overall, the Magic are the second-best bet in the league (!!) going 31-22-1 ATS this season, trailing only the OKC Thunder.

Even with Jalen Suggs and Mo Bamba out for Orlando with suspensions, look for the home team to keep cooking.

Pick:

  • Magic +1.5 (-117); 1.5 units to win 1.23 units
  • NBA Betting Record: 25-24-1 ATS, 1-1 ML, 5-6 o/u, 0-2 parlays; -5.87 units
