NBA Play-In Tournament Injury News – May 19th
- Grizzlies guard Grayson Allen (abdomen) is questionable vs. Spurs
- Warriors forward Kelly Oubre (wrist) is out vs. Lakers
May 19th Projected Starting Lineups
Lakers vs Warriors Projected Lineups
Dennis Schroder | PG | Stephen Curry |
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope | SG | Kent Bazemore |
LeBron James | SF | Andrew Wiggins |
Anthony Davis | PF | Draymond Green |
Andre Drummond | C | Kevon Looney |
The Los Angeles Lakers are solely in this position because of all the injuries they dealt with throughout the season. Anthony Davis missed 30 games with a calf issue, while LeBron missed close to the same because of an ankle sprain.
Dennis Schroder spent two different stints in the league’s health and safety protocols. But thankfully, Frank Vogel’s squad is at full strength for this decisive matchup. There is not even one player listed on the injury report for the Lakers.
The Warriors have a couple of absences. Damion Lee (COVID-19) remains out. Kelly Oubre (wrist) will be re-evaluated in 7-10 days, which means he could possibly take the floor in the first round of the postseason, depending on how Golden State fares in the play-in. Steve Kerr will roll with the same starting five as the last couple of weeks.
Grizzlies vs Spurs Projected Lineups
Ja Morant | PG | Dejounte Murray |
Dillon Brooks | SG | Lonnie Walker |
Kyle Anderson | SF | DeMar DeRozan |
Jaren Jackson | PF | Keldon Johnson |
Jonas Valanciunas | C | Jakob Poeltl |
Memphis has almost a clean bill of health for Wednesday, with the exception of guard Grayson Allen (abdomen). He is listed as questionable, which should likely see Dillon Brooks start beside Ja Morant in the Grizzlies backcourt again in order to get Jaren Jackson in the starting lineup.
The Spurs meanwhile, are without a few players. Derrick White (ankle) is out until next season. Trey Lyles (ankle) hasn’t played since late March but he’s questionable here. The Canadian won’t see much playing time even if he does suit up. DaQuan Jeffries (Not injury-related) was claimed off waivers from the Rockets a few days back, but he’ll be unavailable. Luka Samanic (hand) is out.
The winner of this Southwest Division showdown will play the loser of the Lakers vs. Warriors matchup on Friday night for a chance to lock down the #8 seed in the playoffs and a meeting with the Utah Jazz in the first round.
