Harden Torches His Former Team From Deep
James Harden has been in the zone since taking his talents to the Brooklyn Nets. The former Houston Rockets star has been effective in every single category imaginable for Steve Nash’s team, especially from a playmaking standpoint.
Harden is averaging a ridiculous 11.3 assists per night, while also putting up 25.3 points a game.
It’s common knowledge that he also loves to shoot the three-ball. However, he’s taking significantly fewer attempts from downtown since joining the Nets. Last season, the Beard took 12.4 three-pointers per contest. In 22 appearances with Brooklyn? Just 7.8.
This is simply because his role been slightly different with two stars alongside him in Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant. But, since KD has been out, it’s been clear that Harden is taking a lot more threes. He’s averaging just under 10 attempts per game in his last eight, while sinking three or more from long range in his last nine appearances.
Harden has been lights out from beyond the arc in his last four games especially. Two 5/10 performances, a 4/11, and a 3/7. Although the Rockets aren’t too bad at defending three-pointers, it will be hard to keep for them to keep Harden at bay considering his shooting touch lately. Bet on the over.
- Pick: James Harden Over 3.5 Three Pointers (-128)
Zion Dishes Out Dimes
Zion Williamson isn’t necessarily seen as a facilitator on the New Orleans Pelicans. He’s primarily the focal point of the offense and their leading scorer with 25.5 points per game. However, there’s some value on Wednesday in Zion distributing the rock at a high level against the Chicago Bulls.
The former number one overall pick has hit the over in assists in his last four games. He’s always had a talent for passing, but on the year, Williamson has averaged just 3.4 dimes per night.
What’s even more impressive though is that in his last few games where the Pelicans star facilitated efficiently, NOLA was up against two solid defensive teams in the Utah Jazz and Milwaukee Bucks.
There’s a focus on double-teaming Zion at times, which has opened up more lanes to dish out assists to open teammates. He also does a great job of drawing in defenders to free up that final pass. These are all things Williamson has been doing very well lately.
The Bulls are currently on a three-game losing skid and have allowed 28.3 assists during that span, which leaves them in the bottom-five of the league. I have no doubts Zion is going to show out from a scoring standpoint, but also expect him to hit the over here in dimes.
- Pick: Zion Williamson Over 4.5 Assists (+100)
