Perhaps the only thing positive thing going right now for the Brooklyn Nets is Kevin Durant. And a soft section of the schedule.

The circus that is the Nets will look for their first back-to-back wins on the season, as they visit a decimated Charlotte Hornets squad.

Both teams will be playing on consecutive nights, but with far different mojo.

Brooklyn demolished the Washington Wizards 128-86, while the Hornets were squashed 130-99 by the Memphis Grizzlies.

Brooklyn Betting Outlook

Perhaps the best thing that could have happened for the Nets was a chance to hoop.

Off to a 2-6 start, with the Kyrie Irving suspension underway, the firing of Steven Nash and the subsequent courting of disgraced ex-Celtics’ head coach Ime Udoka, the Brooklyn franchise is certainly beleaguered. And we haven’t even talked about the massive struggles of Ben Simmons.

Thankfully, Kevin Durant is still his devastating self. The all-world forward scored 28 points, with nine rebounds and 11 assists in a tidy 33 minutes of work to deliver BK’s third win of the season.

KD entered the game putting up a career-best 32.5 points per game, having scored at least 26 points in every game this season, topping the 30-point plateau six times in nine games.

As a team, the Nets had seven players hit double-digit scoring, including Nic Claxton, who had 18 points and nine boards on 9-for-10 shooting.

Simmons (knee) and Seth Curry (ankle) missed this contest. Curry is probable for Saturday, but Simmons will likely sit again after getting his knee drained.

Charlotte Betting Analysis

The Hornets are in a tailspin, after a blowout loss to the Grizz that was extended garbage time by half.

Charlotte has now lost three straight and five of their last six, as a depleted roster is fortunate to still be in the Eastern Conference’s top eight.

All-star LaMelo Ball (ankle) has yet to suit up for a game this season, though head coach Steve Clifford said Thursday Ball could be returning in the next few days.

Also missing Friday were Gordon Hayward (shoulder), Terry Rozier (ankle) and Cody Martin (quadriceps). Their status for Saturday is yet to be determined.

In their absence, Kelly Oubre led the team in scoring with 17 points, while PJ Washington had 10 points and four boards. They were the only to starters to crack double digits.

Charlotte was limited to just 38.1% shooting from the field, including an 8-for-27 mark from deep (29.6%).

Nets vs Hornets Prediction

This will be Brooklyn’s third back-to-back set of the season, and they’re 0-2 straight up and against the spread. Charlotte is 1-0 on no days rest, both straight up and ATS.

Brooklyn is coming off a game where they held their first opponent to under 100 points this season. They came into the Wizards game 22nd in scoring defense, surrendering 115.1 points per game.

Even with Durant’s hot start, Brooklyn is just 17th in scoring (113.8), just one spot above the Hornets, who are dropping 113.4 per contest.

Charlotte is 13th in defensive rating, but they’re pretty stingy in their shooting splits, ranking second in three-point shooting, holding teams to 31.8%. Overall, they allow 45.8% shooting from the field, eighth in the NBA.

The uncertainty of the Hornets’ roster makes them a difficult wager, though Brooklyn isn’t exactly a bettors delight, going just 2-7 ATS in their nine games, which is the third worst mark in the league.

Still, KD should be a difference maker in this one.
