  • The Kings won the first meeting of the season (in Sacramento) and took three of four from the Lakers last year

The Los Angeles Lakers (6-5, 5-0 home, 4-7 ATS) kept their perfect home record intact last night with a 134-107 demolition of shorthanded Memphis. Tonight, they face a stiffer test in the form of the full-strength Sacramento Kings (5-4, 1-3 away, 5-4 ATS), who just welcomed De’Aaron Fox back to the lineup.

The odds are nearly a pick’em as the more-rested Kings look to make it three in a row, overall, against LeBron James and company. Tip-off for tonight’s game is scheduled for 7:10 pm PT/10:10 pm ET.

Kings vs Lakers Odds

Team Point Spread Moneyline Total
Sacramento Kings +1.5 (-115) +100 O 234.5 (-115)
Los Angeles Lakers -1.5 (-105) -120 U 234.5 (-105)

The Lakers are slight 1.5-point home favorites and -120 to win straight-up in Wednesday’s NBA odds. Sacramento comes back at even money to run their current win streak to four games.

LeBron James (calf) and Anthony Davis (adductor) have both been battling injuries. Both played in last night’s 134-107 rout of Memphis, but only 23 and 27 minutes, respectively.

In all likelihood, head coach Darvin Ham was playing it safe with his stars’ minutes during a game that was mostly in hand. Neither is listed on the Lakers injury report for Wednesday though it’s very possible that one gets the night off to rest in today’s NBA lineups.

Kings Crush Cavs with Fox Back in Lineup

Sacramento looked phenomenal with star point guard De’Aaron Fox returning from an ankle injury on Monday against the Cavaliers. Fox poured in 28 points and 6 assists in 36 minutes during the 132-120 victory that put the Kings over .500 for the first time this month. Fox was just one of four Kings who scored 20-plus points against Cleveland: Domantas Sabonis had 23 points plus 10 assists and nine rebounds; Keegan Murray had 25 points and eight boards; and Kevin Huerter had 20 points on 6-of-9 shooting from three.

Prior to the Cavaliers game, Fox’s last appearance was, coincidentally, against the Lakers, when he piled up 37 points, eight assists, and four rebounds in a 132-127 home victory on Oct. 29.

The win over Cleveland was Sacramento’s best and most-complete game of the season. They never trailed after the Cavs took an early 21-20 lead and easily covered after closing as 3.5-point home chalk.

Sacramento is just 1-3 away from home this season, but Fox missed all three losses (Golden State and Houston twice) and played in the only victory (Utah).

The NBA public betting splits for tonight’s game are divided on who will cover (LAL -1.5 is getting just 56% of ATS handle) but the moneyline handle is pouring in on the Lakers (72%).

Player props and odds from the DraftKings Sportsbook app

Fox has the highest over/under point total tonight at 26.5, followed closely by Davis (25.5) and James (23.5). Both Davis and Sabonis are listed with rebound totals of 12.5; Davis is slightly shorter to hit the over (-115 vs -110) in Wednesday’s NBA player props.

Sacramento Kings vs LA Lakers Prediction

Sacramento led the Western Conference – and was tied for second in the NBA – with 25 road wins last season, and they are 1-0 on the road this year with Fox playing. On top of that, they have also won four of the last five against the Lakers, including the last two in Los Angeles.

But the way LA has been playing at home, coupled with the fact that neither James nor Davis had to play big minutes yesterday, has me siding with the Lakers, who remain perfect at home this year.

Kings vs Lakers pick: Lakers moneyline (-120)
