Golden State Warriors Betting Analysis

The Warriors have won nine straight coming in, beating OKC 110-98 on Monday in their most recent outing. Klay Thompson led the way with 21 points in his 12th game back from ACL and Achilles tendon injuries, and put the game away with a pair of dagger threes.

Thompson has slowly been increasing his minutes over the past week, but won’t suit up on Wednesday. He’ll be given the night off to rest since Golden State faces the New York Knicks on Thursday, and Thompson isn’t ready for back-to-backs just yet.

Steph Curry — who’s dipped to fourth in the 2022 NBA MVP odds — added 18 points, 10 assists and 9 rebounds against the Thunder, including a dagger three of his own down the stretch to help seal the victory. The Warriors shot 50% from the field, and 35% from three which helped cover up the fact that they were dominated on the glass and in the paint.

At the other end of the court, Golden State was fantastic again. They held OKC to 41% from the field, and 30.6% from beyond the arc, while forcing 18 turnovers. The Warriors lead the NBA in defensive rating and opponent field goal percentage, while only Cleveland surrenders fewer points per game.

Elsewhere on the injury front, Andre Iguodala left Monday’s game with a hip injury and is out on Wednesday, while Kevon Looney is questionable. Looney is the only true center left on the roster at the moment, and his potential absence would be huge if Rudy Gobert was playing for Utah. Fortunately for the Warriors, Gobert will miss his eighth straight game with a calf strain.

Utah Jazz Betting Analysis

Even without Gobert the Jazz have won three straight. The winning streak follows a five-game skid in which both Gobert and Donovan Mitchell were out. Mitchell missed eight games with a concussion, but has appeared in two straight contests for Utah, leading them to victory on Monday.

Mitchell scored 32 points, and added 7 rebounds and 6 assists in a 113-104 win over the Knicks. Bojan Bogdanovic splashed 20 points, while Mike Conley chipped in 18 points and 7 dimes. The Jazz didn’t have a great shooting night, knocking down only 41.9% of their attempts, but stepped up their play on defense. They held the Knicks to 37.9% from the field, and 8-of-33 from three-point range.

Utah lost the rebounding battle, but are getting quality minutes from Gobert’s backup Udoka Azubuike. The University of Kansas produced splashed 7 points, blocked three shots and grabbed 14 boards, giving him double-digit rebounds in three straight.

The Jazz lead the NBA in offensive rating and points per game, but average 4.5 points fewer without Gobert in the lineup. They’re 4-8 without him this season and fell 94-92 at Golden State sans Gobert the last time they faced the Warriors.

Warriors vs Jazz Pick

Utah is actually 0-2 versus Golden State this season, averaging just 104 points in those two meetings. The Warriors have excelled versus elite competition this season, leading the NBA in defensive rating, half court defensive rating and opponent effective field goal percentage against teams with a top-10 offense.

Having Klay sit out hurts, but don’t forget he didn’t play in either of the first two meetings between these two teams and Golden State didn’t miss a beat.

Another reason to like the Warriors in this spot is the Jazz’s lousy track record versus the spread. They’re 10-18 ATS at home this season, and have failed to cover in 12 of their past 16 games overall.

Pick: Golden State Warriors +3.5 (-115)
