On what figures to be an emotional night at American Airlines Arena, the Dallas Mavericks host the Golden State Warriors at 7:30pm ET Wednesday.

The Mavericks will retire the No. 41 worn for 21 seasons by superstar Dirk Nowitzki before he retired after the 2018-19 season in a post-game ceremony.

The Warriors (29-7) have the best record in the NBA and won back-to-back games, five of their last six and eight of their last 10. They defeated the Miami Heat 115-108 on Monday at home.

The Mavericks (19-18) stretched their winning streak to three games Monday by beating the visiting Denver Nuggets 103-89. Though Dallas moved over .500 for the first time since Dec. 13, the Mavericks are underdogs in a game that will be televised by ESPN.

Warriors vs Mavericks Injury Report

The Warriors’ Andre Iguodala (knee) is listed as questionable.

Kristaps Porzingis has missed the last two games while in the NBA’s health and safety protocols and is joined by teammates Boban Marjanovic and Isaiah Thomas. Porzingis is averaging 20.6 points and 8.0 rebounds a game.

Trey Burke is out of the protocols and could return for Wednesday’s game. Willie Cauley-Stein last played Nov. 27 and will again sit out while attending to a personal matter.

Warriors Outlook

In win over the Heat, the Warriors showed they can thrive even on an off-night scoring by Stephen Curry.

Curry was limited to a season-low nine points, one-third of his season average of 27.2, which ranks fourth in the NBA. Curry shot 3-of-17, including 1-of-10 on three-pointers, though he did have 10 assists.

Jordan Poole picked up the scoring slack with 32 points in his second game back after missing six games while in the protocols. Coming of the bench since returning after starting all season, Poole had his fourth 30-point game of the season.

Poole made 12-of-17 field goal attempts, including 5-of-9 from distance.

Andrew Wiggins had his fourth straight game with at least 20 points, finishing with 22, to go with six rebounds and four assists.

Gary Payton II added 13 points, five rebounds and four steals. He has scored in double digits in seven consecutive games after doing so just six times in his first 29 games this season.

The Warriors also got 10 points apiece from reserves Otto Porter Jr and Nemanja Bjelica while Draymond Green had 13 assists.

The Warriors became the first NBA team with at least 39 assists in back-to-back games since the Indiana Pacers during the 1993-94 season.

Mavericks Outlook

In his second game back on the active roster, Luka Doncic led the Mavericks on Monday with 21 points, a season-high 15 assists, eight rebounds and four steals.

The superstar had missed the previous 10 games, five with an ankle injury and five in the protocols. Doncic recorded his 14th double-double of the season.

Reggie Bullock continued his recent scoring surge with 15 points off the bench. He has been in double figures in two of the last three games after scoring less than 10 points in 16 of his previous 17 games.

Dwight Powell also had 15 points, Jalen Brunson scored 13 and Maxi Kleber and Dwight Finney-Smith finished with 10 each. Kleber added five rebounds, blocked two shots by Nikola Jokic and had a steal off the reigning NBA MVP.

Dallas turned in a strong defensive effort, forcing 26 turnovers, which gave the Mavericks a 28-14 edge in points off turnovers. The Nuggets also shot just 24.0% (6-of-25) on three-pointers.

That helped make up for the Mavericks being outrebounded 49-28 and outscored 12-2 in second-chance points.

Warriors vs Mavericks Prediction

The teams are meeting for the first time this season. The Mavericks have won their last two games against the Warriors and six of the last seven.

In the last meeting April 27, the Mavericks rolled to a 133-103 road win behind Doncic’s 39 points, eight assists and six rebounds. Curry scored 27 for the Warriors.

The Mavericks are playing well, especially with Doncic back in the lineup, and should keep things close on a special night in Dallas.
