Albany Outlook

De’Vondre Perry’s two free throws with three seconds left enabled Albany to edge Columbia.

That capped a fine performance by the senior forward, who finished with 17 points, seven rebounds and three blocked shots. Perry was one point short of his season best.

A transfer from Temple, Perry is the only player with a double-figure scoring average for offensively challenged Albany. He has averages of 12.1 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.6 steals.

Perry was the only Albany player to score in double digits Saturday.

The Great Danes are generating just 83.7 points per 100 possessions, ranking 352nd out of 358 Division I teams in offensive rating. Albany is 2-1 when it scores at least 67 points and 0-6 when it doesn’t under first-year coach Dwayne Killings.

Senior guard Matt Cerutti is scoring 9.6 points a game. He transferred after playing four years on the Division II level at Lock Haven.

Senior guard Jamel Horton is handing out 4.2 assists per game and has a 6.9 scoring average. He had six dimes against Columbia but just two points on 1-of-8 shooting.

Albany shot 38.2% (23 of 60) but held Columbia to 37.3% (22 of 59). The Great Danes also limited the Lions’ leading scorer, Geronimo Rubio De La Rosa, to five points as he made just one of seven field goal attempts.

Boston College Outlook

Boston College’s normally reliable defense let it down at Saint Louis. The Eagles gave up a season-high 79 points after holding opponents to 59.8 a game coming in and allowed the Billikens to shoot 52.7% (29 of 55).

In contrast to Albany, Boston College has four players scoring in double figures.

Leading the way is sophomore guard DeMarr Langford Jr. with a 12.3 average. He is also pulling down 4.9 rebounds and handing out 2.4 assists a game.

Langford’s older brother, senior guard Makai Ashton-Langford, is averaging 11.5 points and 3.6 assists.

Junior forward T.J. Bickerstaff has averages of 10.4 points and 7.3 rebounds. The son of Cleveland Cavaliers coach J.B. Bickerstaff is in his first season with Boston College after transferring from Drexel.

Freshman guard Jaeden Zackery is scoring 10.1 points a game.

Ashton-Langford tallied a season-high 18 points Saturday before fouling out. Langford scored in double figures for the fifth straight game with 14 points and five rebounds.

Zackery had 12 points, five assists and three steals. He scored just five points combined in his previous two games.

Boston College, which made just 3 of 17 (17.6%) three-point attempts, fell behind by 23 points with 13 minutes remaining. The Eagles cut the deficit to seven with 17 seconds left but their rally fell short.

Albany vs Boston College Prediction

The teams met two seasons ago with Boston College winning 72-51 at Chestnut Hill. However, the rosters have almost completely turned over in both programs since then,

Considering Boston College’s home record and Albany’s road record, the Eagles are the choice to cover the sizeable spread in this one.

Pick: Boston College -17.5 (-110)
