Furman Is No Joke
Furman raced to a 25 point lead on Saturday over Division II opponent Flager and never looked back. The Paladins topped the 80 point plateau for the fifth time in six games this season. They were able to connect on half of their 62 shots from the field in an efficient showing.
Senior forward Clay Mounce led the way in scoring for Furman with 21 points. Mounce also led the team in rebounds with eight in only 24 minutes of action. He went over 1000 career points in the first half becoming the 46th player in Furman’s history to accomplish the feat.

Noah Gurley had an impressive game scoring as he chipped in with 17 points. On top of scoring, he was able to contribute in every stat category posting five rebounds, two steals, two blocks and one assist. Senior guard Alex Hunter also filled the stat sheet with 10 points, six rebounds, five assists and three steals.
Alabama Looks to Get Back on Track
Alabama led Clemson by a point with a little more than six minutes to go in their last outing. The Crimson Tide were stingy on defense recording 17 steals in the loss. They were only able to connect on 14% of their three-point attempts which ultimately led to the defeat.
Herbert Jones looked good in the loss, pacing the team in scoring with 17 points. He was able to grab four rebounds as well as swipe three steals in the contest. It was Jones’ third straight game with double-digit points although he did a majority of his scoring from the charity stripe going 11-12.
Tough finish for the Tide. On to the next one.

Senior guard John Petty Jr. had a rough day from the floor, going 2-10, but was still able to score 10 points.
He was the only other Crimson Tide player to reach double digits in scoring on the dominant Clemson defense. Defensive standout Jordan Bruner grabbed a season high five steals, running his streak to four straight games with at least one steal.
Best Betting Angle
Furman simply can’t be overlooked in this spot. They come into this game with an experienced starting five that can score. They are currently 54th in offensive efficiency according to KenPom, ahead of powers like Virginia, Arizona and Dayton.
As much as I want to play the Paladins at +6.5, the total looks to be an appropriate attack surface for this game. Furman will certainly have Alabama’s full attention given their offensive woes in their last game. On top of that, this will be the Crimson Tide’s first game in Tuscaloosa this season which could also play a role.
Alabama is ranked 47th in offensive efficiency this season so Furman will not be the only efficient offense on the floor. The aspect that will compound the efficiency it the fact that Alabama plays at the ninth fastest pace in the country. The Paladins will be forced to play along and move fast if they want to keep pace which they should be able to do.
Pick: Over 150.5 (-110)
