Georgetown Betting Trends

The big question surrounding Georgetown is the status of senior center Qudus Wahab, who is averaging 9.9 points and 7.1 rebounds a game.

He missed Saturday’s loss to Marquette for what coach Patrick Ewing called family reasons. However, reports are surfacing that Wahab is considering leaving the program for the second time in three years.

Wahab transferred to Maryland following the 2020-21 season then returned to Georgetown for this season.

Sophomore guard Primo Spears has been Georgetown’s best player in 2022-23. After transferring from Duquesne, he has averages of 15.9 points, 5.5 assists and 3.0 rebounds, Spears is third in the Big East in assists.

Marquette limited Spears to eight points on 2-of-12 shooting. However, he still dished eight assists.

Junior guard Jay Heath led Georgetown with 18 points, That performance raised the Arizona State transfer’s season average to 12.6.

Senior forward Bryson Mozone had 11 points and three assists in 17 minutes off the bench. Senior forward Akok Akok scored 10 points and blocked five shots and his 2.0 block average is second in the conference.

Georgetown committed 16 turnovers and allowed Seton Hall to shoot 52.2% (35 of 67) overall and 48.4% (15 of 31) on three-point attempts. The Hoyas are 347 nationally in scoring defense (77.5) and 358th in three-point defense (38.6%).

Yet another transfer, sophomore guard Brandon Murray, is averaging 14,5 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.5 assists.

Seton Hall Betting Trends

Seton Hall turned in a poor offensive performance in losing to Villanova on Saturday. The Pirates had 18 turnovers and shot 39.6% (21 of 53(.

Senior forward Tyrese Samuel was a bright spot as he finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds for his second double-double of the season. He also made 7 of 11 field goal attempts.

For the season, Samuel is averaging 10.6 points and 5.7 rebounds a game.

Senior guard Al-Amir Dawes is Seton Hall’s leading scorer with a 12.3 average. The Clemson transfer had 13 points against Villanova.

Junior guard Kadary Richmond had a fine all-round game with 10 points, nine assists, five rebounds and four steals. His season averages are 10.3 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 2.0 steals.

Richmond is second in the Big East in steals. He keys a defense that is 39th in Division I in three-point percentage allowed (30.8) and 42nd in points allowed (64.2).

Georgetown vs Seton Hall Prediction

Seton Hall has dominated the series in recent years with four straight wins and eight in the last 10 games. The Pirates won 66-51 on Jan. 10 on the road behind Dawes’ 24 points.

Seton Hall is a decent team but it’s hard to lay this big of a number with the Pirates. As bad as Georgetown is, let’s take the Hoyas with the points and keep our fingers crossed.

Pick: Georgetown +13.5 (-110)

Season record: 27-24 (+0.6 units) ATS, 3-7 (-3.5 units) ML
