The Kentucky Wildcats travel to Atlanta, Georgia to battle the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets at the State Farm Arena at 5pm EST on Sunday.
Kentucky is coming off of a 65-62 loss to #7 Kansas Jayhawks Tuesday Night in Indianapolis. The Wildcats had a chance to tie the game with five seconds left but came up short.
Georgia Tech is still looking for their first win of the season after losing to Georgia State and Mercer in their only two games this season.
The Wildcats lead the all-time series 57-15 and they won the last meeting on December 14, 2019 by a score of 67-53. Kentucky is favored by 6.5 points in this matchup.

Kentucky Needs A Win
The Wildcats hung with the more experienced Kansas team and even led by six at the half. Kansas was dismal from the floor, only shooting 30% but Kentucky was not much better going 22-61 (36%) on the night.
Freshman phenom Brandon Boston paced Kentucky with 12 points in 31 minutes. It was his lowest point total of the season and he has yet to connect on a three-point attempt in his collegiate career. Still, he is a player that will improve seemingly every game and his athleticism is off the charts.

Terrence Clarke, the other prized Kentucky recruit, had a night he would love to forget, only mustering six points. It was the first time he failed to reach double digits in the points column or take a trip to the free throw line. It wasn’t all bad for the Wildcats, though, as freshman Isaiah Jackson hosted his a block party, finishing the night with eight swats to go along with seven points and 12 rebounds.
Georgia Tech Is Reeling
The Yellow Jackets are winless on the season after falling to Mercer on November 27. Coach Josh Pastner said the team had little to no contact during preseason workouts and it has shown. They allowed the Bears to shoot 48% from beyond the arc and are now 320th of 357 teams in opponent three-point percentage on the season.
Senior Moses Wright will have to be at his best if the Yellow Jackets are to have any chance at beating Kentucky. He led Georgia Tech in scoring against Mercer with 20 points and is leading the team in scoring for the season with 25.5 points per game. Many were calling for a breakout year for Wright and he looked like a star against Mercer.

Micheal Devoe showed a lot of fight against the Bears going for 14 points and five rebounds. Two other Yellow Jackets hit the double digit points plateau, as Bubba Parham had 12 and Jordan Usher had 11.
Best Betting Angle
This seems like one of those games that will defy the statistics. On paper it looks like Georgia Tech will be able to keep this one close enough to cover. Sure, they were beaten by double digits last time out as 12-point favorites, but that can be explained. Mercer shot 48% from behind the three-point line but that is to be expected from a team that is number 14 in the nation in three-point percentage.
Kentucky comes into this one shooting 19% from beyond the arc. At first glance, it would seem like that favors the Yellow Jackets, but a deeper look shows it’s not the entire Kentucky team that is struggling from distance. In fact, it’s only Brandon Boston and Terrence Clarke. So far this season, the two freshmen have combined to go 0-for-19 from three-point range. If their totals are deducted from the team’s, then the Wildcats are shooting 32%, which puts them in the middle of the pack in the nation.
Both Boston and Clarke were regarded as decent shooters coming out of high school so it’s fair to think they will turn it around at some point. They are the two leading scorers for the Wildcats this season and neither one has hit a three-pointer. If they were to even somewhat get out of their slump, the Wildcats will cover this number.
