Two teams trying to stay within sight of the Big Ten leaders square off when Maryland visits Indiana at 8 pm ET Monday at Assembly Hall in Bloomington.

Maryland is 6-4 overall, 1-3 in the Big Ten and 5-5 against the spread. The Terrapins have lost four of their last six games and are underdogs in this one.

Indiana is also 6-4 overall. The Hoosiers are 1-2 in conference play and 6-4 ATS.

Terps Look for Turnaround

Maryland has lost four of its last six games since opening the season 4-0, including dropping an 84-73 decision to Michigan at home Thursday as a three-point underdog.

The Terrapins lost despite shooting a torrid nine of 11 from 3-point range in the first half and 13-for-22 for the game.

Offense has not been a problem for Maryland this season. It ranks 11th in the nation in adjusted offensive efficiency, per KenPom.com

Junior guard Eric Ayala leads the team in scoring, averaging 14.8 points. He has helped pick up the slack left by the departure of two first-team All-Big Ten performers in Anthony Cowan Jr. and Jalen “Stix” Smith.

Sophomore forward Donta Scott scored a team-high 19 points against Michigan and is averaging 13.5 points and 6.8 rebounds a game. Junior guard Aaron Wiggins is having a fine all-round season with averages of 10.4 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.2 assists.

Junior forward Jairus Hamilton has also had his moments sparking the offense following his transfer from Boston College. He finished with 15 points against Michigan.

Senior guard Darryl Morsell is questionable for Monday’s game. He took an elbow to the jaw against Michigan and did not return. Morsell is averaging 7.7 points and has started nine of Maryland’s 10 games.

Hoosiers Look to Build

Indiana hopes to build upon the momentum of an 87-85 overtime win over Penn State at home on Wednesday. Though the Hoosiers did not cover the 6.5-point spread, they did end a two-game losing streak.

Junior guard Rob Phinisee was the hero as his step-back jumper with 12 seconds remaining gave Indiana the win.

He also blocked a 3-point attempt by Sam Sessoms in the final seconds of regulation that preserved the tie and forced overtime. With 42 seconds left in OT, Phinisee again rejected Sessoms.

Sophomore forward Trayce Jackson-Davis continued his fine season as he scored a team-high 21 points. He is averaging 20.1 points, 8.3 rebounds and 1.9 blocked shots after deciding to withdraw from the NBA Draft over the summer.

Jackson-Davis has scored 20 or more points in six of 10 games this season.

Senior forward Aljami Durham scored 18 points against Penn State while knocking down four of eight 3s.

The only other Hoosiers player scoring in double figures this season is sophomore guard Armaan Franklin with 13.8 points a game. Franklin is also making an impact on the other of the floor with an average of 1.5 steals, part of why Indiana ranks 16th in defensive efficiency.

Indiana blocked a season-high eight shots against Penn State, though the Nittany Lions shot 47.7% from the field and 42.9% from long range.

Despite its so 6-4 record, Indiana entered Sunday’s play ranked as the 23rd-best team in the country by KenPom.

Clean Sweep for Maryland

Maryland swept two games from Indiana last season on its way to a share of the Big Ten title, winning 75-59 at home as a 6.5-point favorite and 77-76 at Bloomington as a 2.5-point underdog.

After taking a step back this season, Maryland will be hard pressed to beat Indiana on the road, but the Terrapins are good enough to keep things close.
