Miami Outlook

McGusty is also shooting 39.7% from three-point range and 83.7% from the free throw line. He has scored in double figures in 14 of 15 games.

In the win over Syracuse, McGusty finished with 19 points, five rebounds, five assists and three steals.

Senior forward Charlie Moore topped Miami with 25 points and six assists while making 6 of 10 shots from beyond the arc. The DePaul transfer is averaging 12.0 points, 3.9 assists and 1.7 steals.

Sophomore guard Isaiah Wong scored all 14 of his points in the second half to spark a Miami comeback after missing his first five shots of the game.

The Hurricanes fell behind by as many as 18 points in the first half and were down 44-30 at halftime.  However, Miami made its first six three-point attempts in the second half after going 4 for 14 in the first 20 minutes.

Wong is averaging 16.3 points. Since scoring seven points against Canisius in the season opener, he has been in double digits in 14 consecutive games.

A transfer from George Mason, junior guard Jordan Miller had one of his best games of the season against Syracuse by contributing 11 points, eight rebounds and six steals. Miller has scored in double figures in five of the last seven games after failing to do so in the first eight games.

Syracuse shot 53.1% (17 of 32) on threes but Miami forced the Orange into a season-high 19 turnovers. Syracuse made three trifectas in the final 11 seconds to make it closer at the end.

Duke Outlook

Highly touted freshman forward Paolo Banchero has been as good as advertised coming out of high school in Seattle for Duke.

Banchero has averages of 17.1 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.5 steals. He has also scored in double figures in all 13 games.

In the win over Georgia Tech, Banchero posted his second double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds while adding four assists, three steals and two blocked shots.

Sophomore center Mark Williams also had his second double-double by scoring 10 points and grabbing 14 rebounds while blocking three shots.

Banchero and Williams helped Duke hold a 48-35 rebounding edge. That enabled the Blue Devils to make up for a season-worst 37.3 (19 of 51) shooting percentage following a 12-day break because of a COVID-19 outbreak.

Freshman forward A.J. Griffin had 12 points and six rebounds and is shooting 64.5% (20 of 31) during Duke’s five-game win streak. Freshman guard Trevor Keels added 10 points and five rebounds and has season averages of 12.5 points, 2.7 assists and 1.8 steals.

Junior forward Wendell Moore Jr. is having a fine all-round season with 16.3 points, 5.4 rebounds and 4.8 assists a game.

Duke is 7th in the nation in KenPom’s adjusted offensive efficiency with 116.9 points per 100 possessions. Conversely, Miami is 214th in adjusted defensive efficiency with a 104.3 mark.
