Princeton vs Yale Betting Trends

The two best teams in the Ivy League are exactly where they should be, with Princeton looking to return to March Madness for the first time since 2017 when they lost in the first round to Notre Dame.

The Tigers had their hearts broken in this exact game last season by Yale as well, losing a 66-64 nailbiter and just missing out on a return to the Big Dance. Needless to say, revenge is on the mind. Princeton’s last loss came to the Bulldogs on February 18th and since then, they’ve been hot. Wins over Harvard and Penn in back-to-back matchups followed.

Mitch Henderson’s group was led by forward Tosan Evbuomwan on Saturday, who posted a stat line of 21 points, six rebounds, and four assists. Big man Caden Pierce also added 14 points and brought down 12 boards. The Tigers shot 38% from deep and 45% from the field as well.

Yale is typically the class of the Ivy League and it’s been no different this time around. The Bulldogs went 20-7 overall and 10-4 in conference action. Plus, James Jones’ team is 9-1 in their last 10 games coming into Sunday’s Championship. In other words, they’re red-hot.

Cornell was no match for Yale in the semis, with guard John Poulakidas setting the tone for last season’s March Madness representatives. He erupted for 25 points on 7 for 12 shooting while his backcourt mate August Mahoney dropped 18 points, too.

The Bulldogs have the 27th-best offensive rating in the nation but it’s on the defensive end where they really shine, sitting ninth in the country. Although playing in Princeton’s gym won’t be easy, Yale will like their chances against a team they’ve dominated throughout the season.

Princeton vs Yale Prediction

The Tigers have the home-court advantage here, which is huge at this time of the year. Princeton has also covered the spread in three consecutive games and their only loss at home came against Yale. Will they beat the Bulldogs? Perhaps. Regardless, it’ll be a one-possession game. Expect a thriller in New Jersey.

Pick: Princeton +3 (-110)
