Purdue Betting Outlook

While Purdue won outright Sunday, it dropped to 11-10 against the spread after failing to cover as a 9.5-point favorite. The Boilermakers are 2-3 ATS on the road.

Ivey was the hero as his three-pointer with 0.6 seconds left broke a 78-78 tie and gave Purdue the victory. The Boilermakers led 52-32 with 14:35 remaining but could not put Ohio State away.

The Boilermakers made 8 of 17 (47.1%) three-point attempts with Ivey going 3 of 6.

Ivey finished with 21 points for his sixth game of the season with at least 20 and second in his last three games. He has scored in double figures in 19 of 20 games in 2021-22.

Ivey is averaging 16.8 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.0 assists a game.

Purdue also got 20 points from sophomore center Zach Edey, who made 7 of 9 field goal attempts. It was Ivey’s eighth game of 20-plus points.

Leading the nation in field goal percentage with a 70.8 mark, Edey is also averaging 15.0 points and 7.3 rebounds.

Sasha Stefanovic had 11 points and four assists and fellow senior guard Eric Hunter Jr. added 10 points and five assists. It was Hunter’s third double-digit game, all coming within the last two weeks.

Stefanovic has averages of 12.1 points and 3.6 assists for Purdue, which is first in the nation in KenPom’s adjusted offensive efficiency with 125.0 points per 100 possessions.

Senior forward Trevion Williams’ 8.5 rebounds a game are third in the Big Ten. He also has averages of 12.5 points and 3.0 assists.

Minnesota Betting Outlook

Minnesota was tied with Wisconsin 60-60 with 2:23 remaining before Badgers star Johnny Davis scored the game’s last six points.

The Golden Gophers did get under the 11.5 number to even their season ATS record at 9-9. They are just 3-7 at home, though.

Senior guard Payton Wills scored 15 of his team-high 17 points in the second half as Minnesota wiped out a nine-point deficit. It was the sixth straight double-figure scoring game for the transfer from the College of Charleston, who celebrated his birthday Tuesday.

Willis is contributing in many ways with averages of 16.3 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.7 steals a game.

Notching his second double-double of the season, sophomore forward Jamison Battle finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

A transfer from George Washington, Battle is averaging 17.6 points and 6.5 rebounds in his return to his hometown of Minneapolis. He has scored in double figures in all 17 games.

Senior guard Eylijah “E.J.” Stephens’ two free throws drew Minnesota into the 60-60 tie. He finished with 11 points, right on point with his 11.5 average

Senior Eric Curry provided a lift after missing the previous three games with an ankle injury as he registered eight points and six rebounds in 34 minutes.

Purdue vs Minnesota Prediction

The team have split their last six meetings with Minnesota winning the most recent 71-68 last Feb. 11 at home. Williams led Purdue with 24 points and 10 rebounds while Hunter had 14 points and Edey scored 13.

Betting on double-digit road favorites isn’t always a great play but look for Purdue to cover against game but outmanned Minnesota.

The Pick: Purdue -10.5 (-110)
