Michigan opened up as an 8.5-point favorite, in a game that features a total of 137.5. Both programs are off to 2-0 starts, with each team coming off convincing victories.

Wolverines Pound Prairie View

Michigan clashed with Prairie View in Washington on Saturday, and it didn’t take long for the Wolverines to flex their muscle. Juwan Howard’s squad jumped out to a 19 point lead at halftime, and cruised to a 77-49 victory.

Eli Brooks led the way with 15, while freshman Caleb Houston chipped in 13, and Hunter Dickinson added 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Brooks and Dickinson are the only two returning starters from last season’s Elite Eight team, but the program did add transfer DeVante Jones from Coastal Carolina, who was a star in the mid-major ranks. Jones averaged 19 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists as a Junior with the Chanticleers, and is off to a fine start with Michigan.

He’s put up 5 assists in back-to-back contests, and splashed 10 points versus the Panthers. The Wolverines held Prairie View to 27% from the field, and were flat out dominant on defense in the second half. They limited the Panthers to 19.4% shooting in the final 20 minutes, while increasing their lead to 28.

Michigan dominated the rebounding and assist battle, and would have cruised to an even larger victory if not for 20 turnovers.

Seton Hall Stomps Yale

The Pirates have opened the season with 44 and 36 point victories. Last time out, they routed Yale 80-44, led by Alexis Yetna. The 6-8 senior put up 15 points, while Kadry Richmond poured in 13, and Myles Cade added 11 points and 7 rebounds.

Seton Hall barely broke a sweat versus the Bulldogs, jumping out to a 23 point halftime lead and never looking back. They shots a crisp 47% from the field, converting 8-of-24 three’s, and held Yale to just 24.2% shooting.

They dominated the rebounding and assist battle, while also picking up 12 steals. The leap in competition from their first two opponents to Michigan is extreme, but this Pirates team is not to be taken lightly. Seton Hall has made the NCAA Tournament in every season but one since 2015, and are projected to finish fourth in a stacked Big East.

Richmond is getting newcomer of the year buzz after transferring from Syracuse, while three starters back from last season.

Seton Hall vs Michigan Pick

The Pirates and Wolverines boast two of the nation’s top-20 defenses early on, setting up what should be a low scoring affair on Tuesday. Seton Hall has yet to allow more than 49 points in a game this season, and its offensive efficiency is bound to regress versus one of the best defensive programs in the country.

With this being the Pirates first outing versus elite competition, we should expect a slow start, especially in front of a raucous Ann Arbor crowd.

As for recent trends, 61% of Michigan’s games last year came in under the total, including eight of 14 regular season contests. Play the under in this matchup.

Pick: Under 137.5 (-110)
