Texas State Betting Trends

Texas State’s offense has struggled in 2022-23 after the Bobcats won the Sun Belt regular-season title each of the last two seasons.

Texas State is 334th in the nation in scoring (64.6) and 341st in three-point shooting (30.3%). Senior guard Mason Harrell is the only Bobcats player scoring in double figures.

Harrell is averaging 15.9 points a game. In the loss to Old Dominion on Saturday, he had a fine all-around performance with 17 points, five rebounds, five assists and two steals.

The loss was a heartbreaker for Texas State. Old Dominion’s Imo Essien went the length of the floor for the game-winning layup as time expired.

Freshman guard Jordan Mason finished with 11 points for Texas State. Senior forward Tyrel Morgan, junior forward Nate Martin and senior forward Nighael Caesar all had 10 points.

Martin also grabbed eight rebounds. Morgan added seven rebounds and three blocked shots.

Texas State won despite a rare good day from three-point range as it knocked down 6 of 13 (46.2%) attempts.

The Bobcats are allowing 65.9 points a game, the 70th-best mark in the country.

App State Betting Trends

Shooting spelled the difference for App State in its loss to South Alabama on Saturday.

The Mountaineers made just 37.7% (23 of 61) of their field goal attempts and were 4 for 18 (22.2%) from three-point range. They allowed South Alabama to shoot 59.2% (29 of 49) overall and 41.7% (5 of 12) from long range.

Senior forward Donovan Gregory led App State with 14 points and four assists. He has been filling the stat columns all season with averages of 12.0 points, 4.3 assists, 4.1 rebounds and 1.7 steals a game.

Senior guard Tyree Boykin has an 11.2 scoring average. He is a transfer from Union (Tenn.), where he was a Division II All-America last season.

Sophomore guard Terence Harcum scored 11 points Saturday to match his season average. Freshman forward Justin Abson chipped in with 10 points.

Abson is blocking 2.2 shots a game to rank third in the Sun Belt.

App State played a clean floor game with just eight turnovers.

The Mountaineers are 302nd in Division I in scoring (67.7). However, they are 15th in field goal percentage (39.7) and 37th in points allowed (63.9).

Texas State vs App State Prediction

The teams have split their last four games. In the last meeting, Texas State won 68-66 on Feb. 3, 2022 at home.

Look for this game to be close, too, with two slow-paced teams. Neither is playing well but App State has enough to cover at home.

Pick: App State -3.5 (-110)

Season record: 30-24 (+3.6 units) ATS, 3-8 (-4.5 units) ML
