Texas will look to notch a big road win for a second Saturday in a row when it visits West Virginia at 1pm ET in a Big 12 game at the WVU Coliseum in Morgantown.
#4 Texas is on five-game winning streak, including routing Kansas 84-59 in Lawrence last Saturday. It was matched the Jayhawks’ largest losing deficit in Allen Fieldhouse history.
The Longhorns are 9-1 overall, 3-0 in the Big 12 and 5-5 against the spread. They are favored in this one.

#14 West Virginia has split its last four games following a 7-1 start and are 9-3. The Mountaineers are also 2-2 in conference play and 6-6 ATS.
Horns Survive Cyclones
Not surprisingly, Texas had a bit of a letdown following its win at Kansas as it slipped past Iowa State 78-72 on Tuesday night at home as 12.5-point favorites.
The Longhorns led by 15 early in the second half before hanging on. Nevertheless, Texas improved to 3-0 in the Big 12 for the first time since the 2010-11 season.

Junior guard Andrew Jones had a career-high 23 points and led five Texas scorers in double figures. Senior guard Matt Coleman III added 13 points, including a long 3-pointer with 40 seconds left that helped stave off the Cyclones.
Jones’ career has included a successful bout with leukemia.
Coleman leads Texas in scoring (13.7 average) and assists (4.6). Also averaging double-digit points are junior guard Courtney Ramey (13.3), Jones (13.1) and freshman forward Greg Brown (12.0).
Coleman has played 89% of Texas minutes. In addition to having a team-high 7.3 rebounding average, Brown has both 31.3% of the Longhorns’ possessions and shots.

Texas ranks third in the nation in KenPom.com’s adjusted defensive efficiency.
A good sign for Texas lately has been the play of senior forward Jericho Sims. He had 10 points and eight rebounds in the win over Iowa State after registering 11 and 12 against Kansas. Sims says his confidence has never been higher.
WVU’s Culver Bounces Back
Junior forward Derek Culver led the way as West Virginia rallied from 19 points down with 11 minutes left to beat Oklahoma State 87-84 on Monday night as a 1.5-point favorites.
Two days earlier, Culver managed just two points and six rebounds in a loss at Oklahoma. That led to a post-game talk between him and coach Bob Huggins and Culver responded.
Culver is averaging a double-double: 13.8 points and 10.3 rebounds a game. His six double-doubles lead the conference.

West Virginia is counting heavily on Culver after sophomore forward Oscar Tshiebwe stepped away from the program prior to the trip to Oklahoma. They had combined to provide the Mountaineers with one of the best low-post combinations in the nation.
Sophomore guard Miles “Deuce” McBride leads the team in scoring at 15.3 points a game. He is also averaging 4.2 assists and 1.8 steals.
McBride scored 19 of his 21 points against Oklahoma State in the second half, including 14 in the last four minutes. He sat out 10 minutes of first half because of foul trouble.

Senior guard Taz Sherman added 20 points to lift his season average to 12.0.
The win was a milestone for Huggins, the 300th at his alma mater. The only West Virginia coach with more victories is Gale Catlett with 430.
Texas Dominant Recently
Texas has beaten West Virginia in four of the last five meetings.
The teams split two games last season, winning on their home courts as West Virginia rolled 97-59 as a 9-point favorite in Morgantown and Texas pulled a 67-57 upset in Austin as 5.5-point underdogs.
In the Longhorns’ victory, Jones (22), Ramey (21) and Coleman (13) combined for 56 points. Coleman scored 15 in the loss.
Texas is rolling with its highest ranking since being #3 in 2011. Look for the Longhorns to avenge the drubbing it took in Morgantown last season.
