No. 14 Baylor will try to stay in the hunt for the Big 12 regular-season title when it hosts West Virginia at 9 p.m. ET Monday at the Ferrell Center in Waco, Texas.

Baylor (19-6, 12-2 home, 8-4 Big 12) is tied for second place in the conference with Kansas (8-4), one game behind #5 Texas (9-3). Baylor beat #17 TCU 72-68 on Saturday for its third straight win and ninth in the last 10 games.

West Virginia (15-10, 2-6 road, 4-8 Big 12) got thumped by Texas 94-60 on Saturday on the road, ending its two-game winning streak.

The game will be televised on ESPN2.

West Virginia Betting Trends

West Virginia turned in an awful performance Saturday in getting routed by Texas.

The Mountaineers shot just 35.2% (19 of 54), their second-worst mark of the season. They also committed a season-high 20 turnovers that Texas turned into 32 points while outscoring West Virginia 23-7 in fast-break points.

A total of 13 turnovers came in the first half when West Virginia fell behind 51-30 by the break. The Longhorns also shot a sizzling 58.8% (10 of 17) from three-point range.

Senior forward Emmitt Matthews Jr. was the only West Virginia player to reach double figures as he had 13 points.

West Virginia’s leading scorer, senior guard Erik Stevenson, was held to three points on 1-for-7 shooting. Stevenson is scoring 14.2 points a game but the South Carolina transfer has 11 points total in the last two games.

Senior forward Tre Mitchell committed five turnovers Saturday but is averaging 11.5 points and 5.4 rebounds after transferring from Texas.

Senior guard Kedrian Johnson has averages of 10.4 points, 3.2 assists and 1.5 steals. A transfer from Iowa, senior guard Joe Toussaint has a 10.1 scoring average.

Baylor Betting Trends

The guard combo of senior Adam Flagler and junior LJ Cryer helped Baylor overcome a 10-point deficit in the second half to beat TCU on Saturday.

Flagler finished with 28 points, including five three-point goals, and four assists. At one point in the second half, Flagler scored 16 consecutive Baylor points.

Cryer finished with 23 points on 8-of-11 shooting, including 4 of 6 from three-point range.

Baylor needed those combined 51 points because it was outscored 50-28 in the paint.

Flagler is averaging 15.9 points and 4.9 assists a game. He is fourth in the Big 12 in assists.

Cryer had a 14.1 scoring average. He is fifth in the conference with a 45.7 field goal percentage.

Freshman guard Keyonte George was limited to a season-low four points on 2-of-8 shooting. He is Baylor’s leading scorer at 16.9 points a game and is also averaging 4.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists. In the Wooden Award odds, George is listed at +15000.

Baylor allowed TCU to shoot 52.8% (28 of 53).

The Bears are 33rd in the nation in scoring (78.8) and 43rd in free throw shooting (75.3%).

West Virginia vs Baylor Prediction

Baylor has won four straight games against West Virginia and seven of the last eight, including 83-78 on Jan. 11 in Morgantown. George had 32 points and Toussaint 20 in a game in which 53 fouls were called.

Look for red-hot Baylor to continue its recent dominance of the series.
