Wisconsin Badgers Betting Trends

Badgers sophomore guard Johnny Davis took home MVP honors from the Maui Invitational. He finished the tourney with 23.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 2.3 steals.

This season, Davis ranks fourth in the Big Ten in scoring, averaging 20.2 points per game. He also ranks fifth in steals, averaging 2.0 swipes per contest. Davis was out with an injury against Providence in Wisconsin’s only loss this season.

A team with just two seniors, the Badgers are relying on the team concept beyond Davis. They take care of the basketball. Wisconsin commits nine turnovers per game. That’s tied for second-lowest in the Big Ten. At the same time, the Badgers are forcing 14 turnovers per game. Wisconsin’s 5.0 turnover margin ranks fourth in the Big Ten.

The Badgers rank ninth in the country and lead the Big Ten this season in scoring defense. They’re allowing opponents just 55.2 points per game, while limiting the opposition to only 38% shooting from the floor.

Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets Betting Trends

The Yellow Jackets have won five in a row since a season-opening loss to Miami (Ohio). They edged Georgia Southern 61-59 in their last game despite missing six players due to flu-like symptoms.

Senior guard Michael Devoe, the reigning ACC Tournament MVP, is the ACC’s leading scorer (23.4 points per game) and 3-point shooter (62.1%, 3.6 made per game). He also leads the nation in 3-point field goal percentage. Devoe has scored 63 points in Georgia Tech’s last two games.

Senior forward Jordan Usher is averaging 15.8 points and 8.7 rebounds per game.  The Yellow Jackets have outrebounded five of its six opponents this season and show a +6.8 rebound margin collectively.

Tech enters this game ranked No. 3 in the ACC and No. 18 nationally in 3-point percentage (41.1). After hitting just four threes in 17 attempts (all by Devoe) against Miami of Ohio, Georgia Tech has gone 40-of-90 (44.4%) in the last five games, including 7-of-20 against Georgia Southern.

Badgers vs Yellow Jackets Prediction

Wisconsin and Georgia Tech are meeting on the hardwood for the first time in 20 years. The Yellow Jackets beat the Badgers 62-61 on November 28, 2001. It’s the third meeting all-time. Each school is showing one victory thus far.

The defending ACC champion Yellow Jackets are 4-1 straight up at home but just 1-3-1 at home ATS. They’re playing seven of their first eight games this season at home.

Wisconsin is playing its first true road game of the season. The Badgers did play three neutral-site games at the Maui Invitational.

This will be Georgia Tech’s first game of the season against a top-25 foe. Wisconsin is 1-0 in that scenario with a win over the #15 Houston Cougars.

Pick: Wisconsin Badgers -3.5 (-110)
