The Florida Gators College Football Playoff hopes took a serious hit last week with a loss to LSU in front of their home crowd. Now their only way in is by beating the Alabama Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship Game on Saturday Night – and even then noting is assured by the committee.

Beating Alabama would be a borderline miracle since no team has even been close this season. Sportsbooks and bettors alike aren’t giving the Gators much of a chance as the Crimson Tide are favored by 17 points.

Player props may be the way to go with this one and there are a few to choose from on either side.

Kadarius Toney is an Animal

When going over player props, game script is king. Lucky for us, this one looks to be pretty easy to nail down.

Only two teams in the country have scored more points per game than Alabama this season. They are an absolute wagon and the Gators know the only way to win this game is to score 50+ points. Their gameplan should reflect that way of thinking, and they should be playing from behind leading to elevated pass attempts from Kyle Trask.

Only 14 teams in the nation threw the ball more than the Gators on a per game basis (38.8 attempts per game) so we could see 50+ pass attempts. Targeting quarterbacks in negative game scripts isn’t always the best idea, but the wide receiver position is a different story. A guy like Kadarius Toney could feast in this environment.

Toney is highly likely to be force-fed the ball against Alabama. He leads the Gators in receptions on the season with 62. No other Florida player has more than 36. He has caught 17 passes in the last two weeks and he’s gone over 100 yards receiving in three of his last four outings.

Toney’s yardage total is suppressed because of the perception of the Alabama defense. They haven’t seen an offense like Florida’s since October 10th, when they let Ole Miss hang 48 points on them. They can be had by “smaller” receivers as Elijah Moore went for 143 yards in the Mississippi game and LSU’s Kayshon Boutte just went for 111 yards against them a couple of weeks ago. Toney is not exactly small but he plays like he is, and Boutte is a similar comparison.

The Pick: Kadarius Toney Over 75.5 receiving yards

Who Scores?

Najee Harris stands out as a good bet to score a touchdown in this game as he has scored 22 on the season and at least once in every game except one. The issue is, his number is at an unplayable -850. A better way to play Harris might be to bet his First Touchdown Scorer prop.

Alabama has played 10 games this season and they have scored the first touchdown in nine of them. Of those nine games, Harris was the first touchdown scorer in four. Obviously first touchdown props can be flukey but +320 seems pretty generous for Najee Harris given what he has done this season.

Pick: Najee Harris  +320 (First Touchdown Scorer)
