It all gets underway at 1pm ET, part of Saturday’s Week 3 college football slate, from Brooks Stadium in South Carolina.

Some college football odds originally had this spread as high as 20 points, but it’s settled into a 14-point advantage for the Chanticleers.

Coastal Carolina is also a sizeable +450 favorite on the moneyline, with a total that runs at 58.5 points. Let’s look at this matchup and let you know how to best tackle this wager.

Coastal Carolina Betting Outlook

The large opening line came about as the Chanitcleers have been playing standout football since last season, reeling off five straight wins, which includes a win over Northern Illinois at the Tailgreeter Cure Bowl .

They opened this year’s campaign with a 10-point win over Army, and they followed it up with a 31-27 win over the Gardner Webb Bulldogs.

Grayson McCall was the catalyst of the Coastal Carolina offense, going 22-for-30 for 308 yards and a pair of touchdown passes against just one interception.

Tyson Mobley was the big-play threat for CCC, catching three passes for 50 yards and two TD scores.

They had their struggles defensively, however. blowing a pair of 14-point leads, including a 24-10 advantage, to trail early in the fourth quarter, and needing a come-from-behind effort to pull one out against the Bulldogs.

In fact, the Week 3 line had to have shriveled when you consider the Chanticleers have won both their games this season by a combined 14 points.

Bulls Betting Outlook

Though they took a 31-10 thumping at the hands of Maryland to start their season, the Bulls were able to cover a massive 24-point spread in Week 1. In Week 2, while the scoreboard result was better they were 6-point home favorites as they dropped a 37-31 decision at home to Holy Cross , courtesy a buzzer-beating Hail Mary as time expired.

Cole Snyder was stellar for the Bulls, throwing for 305 yards and three TD’s, but it wasn’t enough.

Justin Marshall was his big-play hookup all day, as he hauled in five passed for 116 yards and a pair of scores.

Defensively, Buffalo’s major glaring weakness is the run game. Led by Crusaders’ QB Matthew Sluka’s team-high 146 yards rushing, the Bulls surrendered 219 yards rushing, a healthy 4.9 yard per carry average, along with two touchdowns.

Maryland’s Roman Hemby ripped them for 114 yards on just seven carries, and two TD’s, while Antwain Littleton II added two other ground scores.

On the year, the Bulls rank 107th in Div I rushing defense, surrendering 184 yards a game, on 5.18 yards per tote.

Buffalo vs Coastal Carolina Pick

This is the second meeting in two years between the two schools, with Coastal Carolina taking the 2021 matchup by a slim 28-25 margin. McCall was the Chanticleer quarterback, and he threw for three TD’s against just one interception.

The Chanticleers ran for 233 yards on the day.

As bad as Buffalo has been to start the year, Coastal Carolina is susceptible for an upset, as they have surrendered 27.5 points per game. Against Army, they surrendered 202 yards rushing and two TD’s. Against Gardner-Webb, the Bulldog quarterbacks combined to throw for 448 yards.

The Bulls may be just 1-5 against the spread across their last six games, but Coastal Carolina is just 1-5 ATS in their last six, and also 1-5 ATS in their last six home games.

Really wishing I had jumped on this line at -20. Still, this is great value at -14.

The Pick: Bills +14 (-110)
