  • The 2-0 Louisville Cardinals are 10-point favorites against the 1-1 Indiana Hoosiers in their college football game slated for Saturday, September 16
  • It’s only the third meeting between the two schools and the first since 1986
  • Indiana is 2-0 straight up and against the spread in those two previous games

The Louisville Cardinals (2-0, 1-1 ATS) and Indiana Hoosiers (1-1, 2-0 ATS) are meeting on the football field for the first time in decades. And it appears it will also be their last meeting for quite some time.

Set to be the first of a three-game series between the two schools, news broke this week that the Hoosiers were paying the Cardinals $1.3 million to get out of the remaining two games.

Indiana has never lost to Louisville, but oddsmakers see that scenario changing. The unbeaten Cardinals are set as 10-point favorites. Indiana is 1-5 straight up in the school’s past six home games.

Let’s dive deeply into the Louisville vs Indiana odds and offer you our pick for this Week 3 college football game.

Cardinals Displaying Explosive Offense

Under new coach Jeff Brohm, Louisville is flexing powerfully when in possession of the ball. The Cardinals are fourth in the nation in total offense (582.0 yards per game) and third in the country in rushing offense (285.5 YPG).

Cardinals RB Jawhar Jordan has gained 231 yards on 14 carries. That’s an amazing 16.5 yards per attempt. Wideout Jamari Thrash has already caught three touchdown passes.

Off to their best start since 2017, Louisville crushed Murray State 56-0 last week. In Week 1, the Cardinals rallied from a 15-point halftime deficit to beat Georgia Tech 39-34. However, the Cardinals are 1-4 ATS in their last five games against Big Ten opposition.

Hoosiers Don’t Beat Themselves

Indiana won easily as expected last week by whipping Indiana State 41-7. However, it’s the 23-3 loss to Ohio State in Week 1 which is turning more heads about the Hoosiers.

The Indiana defense is 15th in the nation, allowing just 236.5 yards per game. They were able to keep an overmatched Indiana team in the game against the ranked Buckeyes. And the Hoosiers are converting 54.8% of third-down plays, 21st in the country.

Louisville vs Indiana Prediction

Louisville is 129th out of 132 FBS schools with a third-down conversion percentage of only 22.7%. Hoosiers punter James Evans leads the country with 53.38 average.

Indiana is 2-0 ATS this season. If the Hoosiers can play a ball-possession game and utilize Evans to win the field-position battle, they can cover in this game.

Louisville vs Indiana Pick: Indiana +10 (-110)
