Central Michigan vs Ohio Prediction

The Ohio Bobcats (7-3) host the Central Michigan Chippewas (5-5) as 10-point favorites at Peden Stadium in Athens, Ohio on Wednesday night. Ohio is coming off a 20-10 victory at Buffalo, while Central Michigan lost 38-28 at Western Michigan last week.

In the college football public betting trends, the Chippewas are receiving 43% of the ATS money with only 27% of bets, indicating some potential sharp action. Even though these teams are having different types of seasons, Central Michigan has won each of the last six matchups against Ohio plus the last four games played in Athens.

If CMU hopes to pull the upset on the road, they will need to rely on their efficient run game, which is averaging 164.8 yards per game. That’s easier said than done when they will be facing one of the top rushing defenses in the nation (95.3 ypg).

While there may be some big-money bettors backing CMU at +11, keep in mind this line opened all the way down at +8. This Ohio defense is the real deal, limiting seven of their opponents to 17 points or less while not giving up more than 30 points in a single game.

Given Ohio’s ability to blow this one open, we’re going to target the Bobcats’ team total at 28.5. Ohio is still being undervalued given their offensive firepower, as the Bobcats’ team total has cashed the “over” in three straight games. With CMU’s defense allowing over 400 yards per game, the Bobcats should get to 30 points at home.

  • Pick: Ohio Team Total Over 28.5 Points (-110)

Buffalo vs Miami (OH) Odds

Team Spread Moneyline Total
Buffalo +8.5 (-110) +280 Over 39.5 (-115)
Miami (OH) -8.5 (-110) -350 Under 39.5 (-105)

Miami Ohio is a -350 moneyline favorite in the Wednesday MACtion odds at ESPN, meaning they have 78% implied probability to win the game outright. Make sure to use promo code DIME when signing up to wager at ESPN Bet.

Buffalo vs Miami Ohio Pick

The second MACtion game on Wednesday features a similar spread to the first game, as Miami Ohio (8-2) is a 9-point favorite over Buffalo (7-3) at Yager Stadium. The surging RedHawks have won eight of their last nine games, while the Bulls have won three of their six conference games so far.

There’s one clear mismatch in this game, which makes us hesitant to back the Bulls as underdogs. Miami Ohio has a top-five rushing offense (160.7 ypg) and faces a Buffalo defense giving up more than 175 rushing yards per game and 5.0 yards per carry to MAC opponents.

Offensively, the Buffs will need to air it out in this one, as they face an elite Bobcats’ rushing defense holding opponents to 2.7 yards per carry and 85.0 rushing yards per game. That’s not an ideal scenario with QB Cole Snyder only completing 56% of his passes for six TDs and five interceptions.

Synder’s completion percentage almost drops to below 50% on the road, and we don’t think Buffalo’s O-line will hold against a Bobcats’ D-line that is top-25 (nationally) in pass-rush efficiency, per PFF. Miami-OH are 8-1 ATS in their last 9 games, and we think they continue this impressive streak at home.

  • Pick: Miami (OH) -8.5 (-110)
