Seahawks Offense Powering 3-1 Start

Seattle returns home after marching to a convincing 27-10 win in Arizona last weekend as -5.5-point road chalk, powering the Seahawks to their first 3-1 SU start in three years. That ties them with Los Angeles in the NFC West standings going into Thursday night’s Rams vs Seahawks contest at CenturyLink Field.

The Seahawks offense has been producing steadily of late, averaging over 27 points per game over their past three outings. However, that has failed to translate into steady success in the NFL odds, with Seattle recording against the spread wins in just two of four outings to date, and going winless ATS in their past three home contests.

Loss to Saints Cause for Concern?

The squad also struggled in their last home game, failing to contain the New Orleans Saints despite the absence of injured quarterback Drew Brees, and dropping a stunning 33-27 decision to the Saints as 5-point chalk. The Saints’ 33 points in that contest marks the most points that Seattle has given up in nine home contests since suffering a 33-31 loss to the visiting Rams as 7.5-point home underdogs, back in Week 5 of last season.

That also marked the Seahawks’ third loss in four home meetings with the Rams since 2015, and contributed to a worrisome trend that has seen Seattle give up a whopping 37 points per game in three straight losses to their divisional rival.

Rams Reeling Following Stunning Loss to Bucs

The timing may be right for the Seahawks to snap their current stretch of futility against Los Angeles. The Rams arrive in Seattle reeling after suffering a shocking 55-40 loss to the visiting Tampa Bay Buccaneers last weekend while perched as 9-point home favorites.

Los Angeles surrendered the second-most points in a single game in their nine-decade long history win last weekend’s loss. The Buccaneers exposed major fissures in a Rams defense that had allowed just 22 total points over their previous two outings.

However, the Rams have proven resilient since the start of the 2017 NFL season, suffering consecutive losses on just one occasion during that stretch, and racking up an impressive 11-2 SU record in their past 13 regular season dates away from Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. That record has contributed to the team’s continued presence near the top of the NFC championship odds, where they trail only the Saints and Dallas Cowboys as a +600 bet.

Los Angeles a Steady Bet on the Road

The Rams have also regularly rewarded loyal sports bettors in recent road contests, posting ATS wins in four straight outings, and six of their past eight. That success extends to recent games in which Los Angeles has been pegged as a road underdog, with the Rams going 3-1 SU and ATS in their past four.

While the Rams have picked up the win in three of their past four appearances on Thursday Night Football, their one loss came in Seattle, a 24-3 defeat back in December 2016, fueling a 1-4 SU run in their past five TNF road dates.

Picks: Seahawks -1.5 (-109), Over 49.5 (-109)
