The Baltimore Ravens crushed the Los Angeles Rams on Monday Night Football to move to 9-2. That sets up and important showdown with the 10-1 San Francisco 49ers next week. The Ravens have opened as a 4.5-point favorite at home but how will the line move by the time we get to game time?

Ravens Demolish Rams

The Ravens smoked the Rams on Monday night, extending their winning streak to seven in a row. They’ve been incredibly dominant over that span, becoming the first team in NFL history to win back-to-back games versus winning teams by at least 34 points while averaging a 28-point win margin over their last five.

To put it into perspective, the Ravens punted a total of four times in the month of November. Lamar Jackson has gone from being a good young quarterback to becoming the frontrunner for the MVP award. Meanwhile, the defense has turned this around. This is currently the best team in the AFC.

49ers Crush Packers to Improve to 10-1

The 49ers had a few tense weeks as they played two close games with the Arizona Cardinals and won both, and lost an overtime game to the Seattle Seahawks. However, they got back on track in a big way in Week 12 by crushing the Green Bay Packers 38-7.

While the 49ers offense has been solid, the defense has been elite. They held Aaron Rodgers to just 104 passing yards, one touchdown and a fumble. They sacked him five times and now lead the league with 44 sacks. They have the league’s top-ranked defense in terms of yards and second-ranked defense in terms of points allowed.

That sets up an intriguing showdown with the Ravens, whose offense has been incredible this season.

Which Way Will the Line Move?

The Ravens opened as a 4.5-point favorite for Sunday’s affair with the 49ers but we already see some 5’s on the board. It’s a bit surprising as these are the two best teams in the NFL right now and one would have to think that a field goal should really be the difference between these sides.

One of the reasons the Ravens are laying a bigger number than just the field goal is they’ve actually topped some good teams during this stretch. They crushed the Rams by 39, the Houston Texans by 34, the New England Patriots by 17 and the Seattle Seahawks by 14.

Keep in mind that the 49ers just struggled to beat the Seahawks at home a couple of weeks ago, so some bettors may cross-reference that game as it’s a common opponent. While the 49ers were at home when they lost, the Ravens went to Seattle and won.

On top of that, the 49ers are not only on the road here, they’re in the Eastern Time Zone playing an early start at 1:00 pm EST. It’s early in the week but it looks like we could be dealing with some rain and weather, which probably impacts the road team more than the Ravens.

All in all, I wouldn’t be surprised if bettors continue to ride the hype train and push Baltimore up to -5 and -6. If you like them, get in on the line now.
