Pittsburgh is a 1.5-point road favorite against the Ravens in their first meeting this season, a series the Steelers have dominated in recent years. Pittsburgh is 4-0 SU and 3-1 ATS in the last two seasons after the Ravens swept the season series in 2019. The Steelers are 8-3 SU and 5-5-1 over a longer stretch in the series and are 4-2 SU and 1-4-1 ATS in the last six meetings at home.

The Ravens are 2-6-1 ATS since a 37-26 victory at New England on Sept. 25 and have failed to cover in their last three. They are 4-2 SU and ATS on the road this season, and seven of their last nine games have gone under the total. Pittsburgh is 4-3 SU and 5-2 ATS in its last seven and 2-2-1 ATS at home this season. Five of the Steelers’ last eight games have gone under the total.

Baltimore To Miss Jackson

Tyler Huntley is expected to start at quarterback in place of Lamar Jackson, who suffered a sprained posterior cruciate knee ligament when he was sacked on the final play of the first quarter of a 10-9 victory over Denver last week. Huntley capped the game-winning 91-yard drive with a two-yard scoring run and was generally efficient, completing 27 of 32 passes for 187 yards, including a flip under pressure to set up his winning score. He can run, but not like Jackson, who was listed as doubtful on the injury report Friday.

This would be the first game Jackson did not play this season after missing four games with an ankle injury last season, and the Ravens were 1-3 when Huntley started in his place, including a season-ending 16-13 overtime home loss. Huntley threw for 772 yards, two touchdowns, and four interceptions and rushed for 239 yards and two more scores in his four starts.

The Ravens are playing their usual physical defense, and the unit has improved since big-hitting linebacker Roquan Smith was acquired from Chicago last month. They are ranked 13th in the league in total defense, second in rushing defense and ninth in scoring defense.

Pittsburgh Showing Signs of Life

After losing six of their first eight games and weathering the expected growing pains of rookie quarterback Kenny Pickett, the Steelers have won two in a row and three of four, although all of the victories have become against fellow stragglers New Orleans, Indianapolis, and Atlanta. Pickett has settled in as a game manager, throwing for 835 yards and two touchdowns without an interception and rushing for 111 yards in the last four. He is 4-4 in his eight starts and has gone 128 attempts without a pick, the second-longest active streak in the league.

The Steelers have run well recently while staying away from workhorse running back Najee Harris the last two games. Harris has 20 carries for 61 yards in the last two games after gaining 461 yards in the previous five. Pittsburgh has averaged 157.8 yards rushing over their past five games, topping 100 yards each time. Pittsburgh hasn’t rushed for 100 yards against the Ravens since 2018. The Steelers’ offense has struggled all season — it ranks 22nd in total offense and scoring and is 28th in rushing.

Baltimore vs Pittsburgh Injury Report

Ravens offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley (ankle) does not have an injury designation after missing the previous two games and is expected to play.  Linebacker Patrick Queen (thigh) is questionable. Steelers linebacker T. J. Watt and wide receiver Diontae Johnson did not practice Friday but are expected to play.

Baltimore vs Pittsburgh Prediction

This is an intriguing game. Pittsburgh has won the last four in the series, but that was with Ben Roethlisberger behind center. Pickett is new to the rivalry, and Huntley lost his only start against the Steelers at home last season. Both teams would rather run than pass and both rank in the NFL’s top seven in run defense. The Ravens have the best defense Pickett has seen recently, and look for them to grind out a victory here.

  • Pick: Baltimore +1.5 (-106)
  • Season NFL: 2-4 ATS
