Buccaneers vs Falcons History

The Buccaneers have won three straight games against the Falcons, including 48-25 in Week 2 at Tampa Bay. Tom Brady threw five touchdown passes for the Buccaneers and finished with 276 yards.

The Buccaneers have also won in their last two trips to Atlanta.

Buccaneers Offense vs Falcons Defense

Brady has long been a nightmare matchup for the Falcons as he has won all nine career starts against them while throwing for 2,973 yards and 24 touchdowns with three interceptions.

The 44-year-old leads the NFL with 30 TD passes and is second with 3,403 yards.

However, Fournette took on more of a starring role last week. He has rushed for 621 yards and seven touchdowns this season and has 51 receptions for 354 yards and one score.

Fournette could have a big day against the Falcons, who are 22nd in the NFL in run defense.

Falcons Offense vs Buccaneers Defense

Conversely, the Buccaneers lead the league in run defense, allowing 81.0 yards a game. That could make the going tougher for Patterson a week after the Falcons established a season high with 149 yards on the ground.

The Falcons have a hard time passing with top wide receiver Calvin Ridley out indefinitely while dealing with mental health matters. Matt Ryan has thrown for less than 200 yards in four the last five games.

Thus, it is imperative that the Falcons find a way to spring Patterson loose. He has scored nine touchdowns while leading the team with 411 yards rushing, hauling in 41 passes for 500 yards and averaging 23.7 yards on kickoff returns.

And, oh by the way, Patterson also lined up at safety for one play last week against the Jaguars.

Buccaneers vs Falcons Injuries

Buccaneers wide receiver Antonio Brown was suspended for three games by the NFL on Thursday for providing a false COVID-19 vaccination card. The ban goes into effect Sunday.

Tampa Bay will also be without wide receiver Jaelon Darden (concussion) and safety Jordan Whitehead (calf). Cornerback Jamel Dean (shoulder) is listed as questionable as well as guard Ali Marpet (abdomen) and linebacker Devin White (quadriceps).

Falcons defensive end Jonathan Bullard (ankle) has been ruled out.

Buccaneers vs Falcons Prediction

The Buccaneers are just 3-3 on the road this season but the Falcons have had no home-field advantage at all as they have lost all four home games.

Look for the Falcons to lose again in front of their fans. The Buccaneers will stop the run and turn the game into a battle of Brady against Ryan, which isn’t a fair fight without Ridley.

The Pick: Buccaneers -10.5 (-106)
