  • The Kansas City Chiefs had a season-high 147 rushing yards in Week 9.
  • The Tennessee Titans have allowed 24.3 points per game over their last three games after allowing 15.6 points per game in their first six.
  • The Chiefs have opened as a 3.5-point favorite in Tennessee as Patrick Mahomes is expected to play.

The Kansas City Chiefs earned a big win on Sunday with backup Matt Moore leading the way. With Patrick Mahomes expected to return next week, the Chiefs have opened as a 3.5-point road favorite in Tennessee. Which way will the line move before kickoff in the Week 10 odds and what’s the best bet?

Chiefs Edge Vikings In Week 9

The Chiefs were forced to start backup Matt Moore for a second straight week but the veteran led them to a win this time. Truth be told, he played very well against the Green Bay Packers and Kansas City could have won that game, but they managed to seal the deal this time around.

A big difference was the defense, which stepped up and held the Minnesota Vikings and a previously red-hot Kirk Cousins to just 23 points. The Chiefs defense forced back-to-back three-and-outs on the Vikings final two possessions while the offense kicked field goals, and that was the difference.

The Chiefs also finally got some production out of their running game, which compiled a season-high 147 rushing yards. If the defense and the running game can play like this when Mahomes returns, the Chiefs could be back to being among the top teams in the AFC.

Titans Collapse In Carolina

It’s been a bit of a mixed bag for the Titans with Ryan Tannehill under center. Tannehill has actually moved the ball well through the air and the team has won two of his three starts. At the same time, the defense has completely collapsed.

The Titans hadn’t allowed more than 19 points in any of their first six contests. They’re allowing nearly 10 more points per game (24.3) with Tannehill under center. That figures to be a big problem considering the Chiefs are coming to town.

If the Titans are to win on Sunday, maybe they can rely on their ground game like the Indianapolis Colts did in their win over Kansas City. The Titans had 121 rushing yards on Sunday with two touchdowns and a 5.8 yards-per-carry average.

What’s The Best Bet?

I’m expecting the money to come in on the Chiefs and the line to climb as we move throughout the week. The Chiefs have opened -3.5 with the assumption that Mahomes is back and considering that the defense and running game have seemingly improved with him away, the Chiefs should be ready for a strong effort.

As for the Titans, they’re a team that’s good at winning low-scoring grinds where they can control the ball and control the clock. There’s a chance that happens here but given how their defense has played of late, what’s more likely is the Chiefs drag them into a shootout they’re not equipped for.
