Cowboys-Saints Line Movement

The Cowboys are often referred to as America’s team. This week, in terms of public NFL betting trends, they certainly are the team that the large majority of Americans are backing.

In terms of spread betting, 81% of the handle and 82% of bets are on the Cowboys. The line has shortened from Dallas -5.5 to Cowboys -4.5.

Moneyline wagering is also overwhelmingly going in support of Dallas. There is 75% of the handle and 83% of bets on the Cowboys. The opening moneyline of Dallas -235 is now at Cowboys -210.

When it comes to the total, there is less certainty on the outcome. The Over is drawing 62% of handle. However, 56% of public bets are backing the under. The total on this game opened at 47.5 points and has stayed there.

Saints Will Die on This Hill

There’s no question who’s at quarterback for the Cowboys. Dak Prescott is at the helm of the NFL’s #1 offense (4,618 yards per game) and #2 scoring offense (29.6 points per game). Dallas has scored at least 30 points in six games this season and gone over 40 points in three of those games.

The Saints, on the other hand, will be turning to a third different starting QB as they try and resurrect their flagging season. Recovered from a foot injury, Taysom Hill has been taking the majority of first-team reps this week. He’s expected to be the starter on Thursday.

Jameis Winston started the first seven games after winning a training camp battle will Hill for the #1 job. When his season was ended by a knee injury, Trevor Siemian went 0-4 as Winston’s replacement.

Cowboys-Saints Injury Report

Cowboys’ starting receivers CeeDee Lamb (concussion) and Amari Cooper (COVID-19) are expected to play. Defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence (broken foot) is also back for the first time since the season opener. Starting right tackle Terence Steele (COVID-19) is also out.

New Orleans could be missing three key offensive pieces beyond Winston. Running back Alvin Kamara (knee), left tackle Terron Armstead (knee) and right tackle Ryan Ramczyk (knee) are questionable. On the defensive side of the ball, left cornerback Paulson Adebo (concussion) is questionable.

The Saints have a real issue on their hands at right defensive end. Sack leader Marcus Davenport (shoulder) and backup Tanoh Kpassagnon (ankle) are questionable, while third stringer Payton Turner (shoulder) is on IR.

Cowboys-Saints Betting Trends

Dallas is 0-3 straight in the club’s last three visits to New Orleans. The last Cowboys win there was a 24-17 triumph on December 19, 2009.

Dallas defensive tackle Trysten Hill will sit out a one-game NFL suspension for punching Las Vegas Raiders guard John Simpson in last week’s game.

Dallas needs to rediscover its once potent run game. Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott has gained just 149 yards over the past four games, That’s the lowest four-game total of his career.

Cowboys vs Saints Prediction

Head coach Mike McCarthy will be among six members of the Dallas coaching staff expected to be missing due to COVID-19. Earlier this season, the Saints played Carolina minus eight coaches in COVID-19 protocol and lost 26-7.

Could Hill’s arrival spark a New Orleans revival? He was 3-1 as a starter last season.

Mobile QBs like Prescott are giving the Saints defense fits this season. Go with the Cowboys.

Best Bet: Dallas Cowboys (-210)
