When the Kansas City Chiefs (2-2, 2-1-1 ATS) and Las Vegas Raiders (2-2, 2-2 ATS) take the field to face each other, al the the records, stats and even the injury report can be thrown aside. This is an old-school rivalry that predates their NFL days by a decade.

As they clash yet again during the NFL Week 5 MNF game, it’s the Chiefs who are showing more walking wounded than the Raiders.

The Chiefs will again being going without kicker Harrison Butker, one of the most accurate placement specialists in NFL history. That’s an element which could certainly impact the NFL odds on this game.

Las Vegas is welcoming back starting WR Hunter Renfrow following a two-game absence due to a concussion. However, starting SLB Jayon Brown (hamstring) is out for this contest.

Kansas City is a 7-point home favorite in this showdown between AFC West rivals.

Las Vegas Raiders Injury Report

Brown has started two of four games for the Raiders this season. He was second on the team in the Week 2 loss to Arizona with 12 tackles. However, Brown was limited to a season-low 57% of defensive snaps in last week’s win over Denver. He did not practice Friday or Saturday and was officially declared out for this game.

The strong side linebacker is the only Raiders starter with an injury designation for this game. Forest Moreau, backup to Darren Waller at tight end, is listing as questionable due to a knee injury. Moreau didn’t practice Thursday or Friday, but was a limited participant in practice on Saturday. He caught three passes on four targets in each of the Raiders’ Week 2 and Week 3 games, but didn’t play at all last week against the Broncos.

Backup tackle Justin Herron, an offseason acquisition from the New England Patriots, was placed on IR with a knee injury.

Kansas City Chiefs Injury Report

When it comes to assessing the Raiders vs Chiefs picks, the continuing absence of Butker is definitely a factor. Knowing a team is sending out a reliable and trustworthy placement specialist can go a long way toward determining which way to play a point spread wager.

It’s been a wild week of preparation for Kansas City WR JuJu Smith-Schuster. He began the week dealing with a quad injury and by Saturday, found himself being limited in practice due to a hamstring ailment. The good news for Smith-Schuster and for Chiefs bettors is that all signs are pointing to him playing in the MNF game.

Kansas City’s starting right guard Trey Smith is also listing as questionable. He’s dealing with a pectoral issue that has limited his practice participation throughout the week. However, he was a full participant in their final prep for this game.

Backup LDE Mike Danna (foot) is listed as questionable. He’s been a full participant in practice all week long, however.

How Could Injuries Affect Raiders vs Bengals Betting Lines?

Anytime a kicker is out, it’s going to have an effect on a game. The Chiefs are already on their second attempt to replace Butker. In his first game replacing Mike Ammendola, former Jacksonville Jaguars kicker Matthew Wright was providing Kansas City bettors with some reassurance. He connected on 2-of-2 field goals, with a long of 44 yards. He also converted all five PATs he attempted.

If it’s determined that Smith can’t answer the bell, fourth-year G Nick Allegretti would be making his first start since 2020.

So far, 69% of the ATS handle KC in the Raiders vs Chiefs betting splits and the line has moved to 7.5 at a few sportsbooks. If you’re looking to make a play in the Raiders vs Chiefs player props, the return of Renfrow is a factor worthy of consideration. In his most-recent game in Week 2 against the Cardinals, Renfrow snared seven passes. He’s averaging 5.4 receptions over five games against Kansas City.

On the other hand, the total on receptions by Raiders WR Davante Adams is set at 7.5. He caught nine balls in last week’s win over Denver with Renfrow in the lineup. Will Adams see a reduction in targets now that Renfrow is back in the lineup? In two career games against KC, Adams is averaging three receptions. And that was with Aaron Rodgers as his QB in Green Bay.
