At this rate, it’s hard to imagine any NFL team stepping forward to become the clear cut favorite, no matter what the Super Bowl odds say.

The latest letdown was Tom Brady and the Buccaneers in Washington, falling to backup Taylor Heinicke in the rematch of a last year’s Wild Card game.

As Tampa Bay laid their dud, the Bills bounced back from theirs, taking their place as solo favorite atop the leaderboard.

Again, plenty of moving and shaking as contenders jockey in the title conversation.

That includes the surging Patriots, who have jumped onto the scene with their fourth win in a row, and the tough-as-nails Titans, doing whatever it takes to get done, and the first team to eight wins in the ultra-competitive AFC.

Let’s take a deeper dive, starting with the latest odds after both Sunday blocks of games.

Patriots Climbing Fast

Less than a month ago, you would have needed a magnifying glass to spot the New England Patriots’ title odds, which hovered around +8000 with a 2-4 record.

Today, after reeling off their fourth straight win, the Pats are now holding the 12th-best title odds in the NFL.

New England laid the wood to the Cleveland Browns in Week 10, drilling the 5-4 Browns 45-7. Even without Damien Harris, who was ruled out as he entered concussion protocol, the Patriots continued to churn out yards on the ground.

Rhamondre Stevenson literally ran with the lead back role, rushing 20 times for 100 yards and a pair of scores.

That ground game is insulating rookie Mac Jones, who went 19-for-23 for 198 yards and three TD’s before giving way to Brian Hoyer.

The defense held the Browns to 118 yards passing and 99 yards rushing. There’s plenty of reason to jump in on a wager on them now, but ultimately, a rookie pivot at the helm is a built-in buyer beware.

Titans Into Top 7

Somehow, the top team in the AFC — two wins clear of the closest competitor — is still at +1200 odds, even after gutting out another victory, a tight 23-21 affair over the New Orleans Saints.

It is a jump from their most recent  +2200 odds, as Mike Vrabel’s crew continues to show they’re not just a 1-man crew, as they found another way to win without inured back Derrick Henry for a second straight game.

Tennessee was outgained 373 yards to 264, but it didn’t stop them from reeling off their sixth straight win, including five straight wins against playoff teams from a year ago.

Ryan Tannehill and a suddenly-stout defense has kept the good times rolling. Tannehill ran for a score and threw for another in Sunday’s win, while the defense held their opponent to 21 points or less for the fourth time in the last six outings.

At the very least, you’ll know the Titans will be a tough out come playoff time. That alone deserves a wager. Here’s hoping you took the plunge sooner than this week.

Up and Down Browns

Of all the teams that have roller-coastered through the odds this season, the poster boy for fluctuation has to be the Cleveland Browns. Last week, they looked like world beaters in a crushing defeat over the Bengals.

This week, they were quite literally run over by the Patriots, in a game that had so many important implications for both a division title and a playoff berth.

They have fallen to +2800 in the odds, and while that may present decent value, consider that Cleveland’s five wins have come against the Texans, Bears, Vikings, Broncos, Steelers and Bengals.

While they might still own a dominant run game, a suddenly-suspect defense and subpar quarterbacking keeps them a risky proposition, at best.

Rounding Up the Rest

Baltimore kicked off the week with a stunning 22-10 upset at the hands of the Dolphins, which dropped them from +950 to their current +1200 position.

The Dallas Cowboys rebounded from a disappointing loss to the Broncos in Week 9 with a 43-6 thrashing of the Atlanta Falcons.

Dak Prescott, who looked ordinary in his first game back from a calf injury, looked more like the game-changer that could keep the Cowboys competitive in any game. It’s for that reason they stay rock-solid at +1100 odds.

As for the Arizona Cardinals, injuries finally caught up to the NFL’s wins leader, as they dropped to 8-2 after taking a 34-10 whipping from the Carolina Panthers. They fade slightly from +850 to +950 odds.

Depending on your comfortability with each team, there is a case for each of these three teams to be a Super Bowl contender and winner. For my money, I like the Cowboys in this position.
