  • The Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers are both 3-0
  • The odds are +200 that the pair will remain undefeated until they face each other in Week 6
  • The Rams play the Buccaneers and Seahawks before then; the 49ers have a bye and then face the Browns

The Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers are two of the NFL’s seven teams that are a perfect 3-0. A new prop has been posted asking whether these two teams will still be undefeated when they meet in Week 6.

Odds Rams & 49ers Are Undefeated in Week 6

Outcome Odds
Yes +200
No -300

Odds taken on 09/26/19.

Rams Face Bucs, Seahawks

The Los Angeles Rams have a pair of games before they face San Francisco in Week 6. They host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this week and visit the Seattle Seahawks next week.

The visit from the 1-2 Bucs should be a win. Tampa Bay is a mistake-prone team that could easily be 0-3. Tampa Bay lost by two touchdowns at home to San Francisco in Week 1, barely beat an injured Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers in Week 2, then lost to the New York Giants in Week 3.

Although it’s no lock, the Rams are the biggest home favorite of Week 4 as they’re laying 9.5 in this contest.

Scrolling ahead to Week 5, the early lookahead line shows that the Rams will be a two-point favorite in Seattle. These two teams will square off on a Thursday night.

Seattle is coming off a loss to the Teddy Bridgewater-led New Orleans Saints. Before that, they were fortunate to beat the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 1, as well as the Mason Rudolph-led Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 2.

They’ve pulled out the wins and are 2-1, but it’s by a narrow margin.

The Rams haven’t been great this season – especially their offense and quarterback Jared Goff – but they’ve mostly been comfortably in front in their wins. They’ve been in control of their games and, if nothing drastic happens in Week 4, should be expected to get the two wins here.

49ers Are on a Bye, Then Face Browns

The 49ers have an easier path to staying undefeated by the time they meet the Rams because they’re on a bye this week. After that, they’re hosting the Cleveland Browns for Monday Night Football. The early lookahead line there shows the 49ers as a 4.5-point favorite.

San Francisco’s defense – and their defensive line – have been excellent this season. They’ve already compiled nine sacks in three games while the defense is allowing an average of 18.0 points per game. That’s probably not a recipe for success for a Browns offense that’s struggling to score and protect Baker Mayfield.

What’s The Best Bet?

My concern here is that the math of the NFL odds simply doesn’t add up. The Rams are about a -420 favorite this week and will probably be in the range of a PICK or small favorite next week. The 49ers are probably going to be about -225.

If you parlay -420 with -130 (which might be high) and -225 (which might also be a touch high) you’re looking at a payout of +216. On this prop, you’re only getting back +200.

The other advantage of betting it this way is you’re only committing to the Rams this week right now. Let’s say there’s a major injury or something that could be a big liability. Betting each gave individually gives you more flexibility to adjust.

All in all, I see there being a pretty good chance of these two teams being undefeated when they meet in Week 6, but I’d rather bet the lines individually than bet this prop. The math just doesn’t add up.
