More Injuries For 49ers
Not only were they shellacked by the NFC West-leading Seattle Seahawks 37-27 on Sunday, the 49ers also lost two key pieces of their offensive puzzle during the setback.
Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, who struggled throughout the game, left in the fourth quarter with San Francisco down by 23 points. Garoppolo’s ailment is a high ankle sprain. With a short week, the Niners will need to determine quickly whether Garoppolo or backup Nick Mullens will take the helm on Thursday.
Sunday’s loss was another disappointing performance by Garoppolo, who’s been hampered by his ankle since originally injuring it in Week 2. He completed just 11 of 16 passes for 84 yards. He didn’t throw for a single touchdown and was intercepted once.
It was the second time this season he’s been pulled from a start. Garoppolo has thrown for seven touchdowns against five interceptions in six starts this season.

Adding to San Fran’s woes, tight end George Kittle was also lost in the fourth quarter due to an ankle injury. As well, running back Tevin Coleman, just activated from IR, re-injured his knee prior to halftime.
The Niners’ depleted running back room is also missing Jeffrey Wilson (high ankle sprain) and Raheem Mostert (ankle). Both players are on IR.
Packers Exposed by Vikings
The Minnesota Vikings arrived at Lambeau Field Sunday with one win to their credit this season. However, Minnesota literally ran through the Green Bay defense.
Vikings running back Dalvin Cook, back in action after missing the previous game with a groin injury, rambled for 163 yards and scored four TDs, three of them on the ground. He was the first Vikings running back to run for three TDs at Lambeau Field since Chuck Foreman in 1974.

Minnesota also ran for 134 yards against the Green Bay defense in a 41-34 Week 1 Packers victory. As well, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers gained 158 yards on the ground in Green Bay’s only other loss this season, a 38-10 Bucs triumph.
Green Bay started rookies Krys Barnes and Kamal Martin at inside linebacker in Sunday’s setback and their inexperience showed. Fortunately for the Packers, San Fran is just about out of healthy running backs.
In last year’s NFC Championship Game, Mostert rumbled for 220 yards rushing against the Packers.

Jimmy-ing With The Line
Where the betting line goes on this game is most certainly going to be dictated by the verdict on the health of Garoppolo and to a lesser extent, Kittle. The Niners also played Sunday without wide receiver Deebo Samuel (hamstring), so they are significantly depleted at the skill positions.
Following their loss to the Buccaneers, Green Bay rebounded strongly the next week to thrash the Houston Texans 35-20 on the road.
