  • Carolina Panthers are 3-2 after Week 5 win over Jaguars
  • They have the second-best odds to win the NFC South
  • Is there any value betting on them?

The Carolina Panthers are rolling after an 0-2 start to the season. They have now won three games in a row to improve their record to 3-2. On the winning streak, they have looked very impressive where they have a chance to win the division, and oddsmakers agree as their NFL Division odds have dropped after the three-game winning streak.

NFC South Division Winner Odds

Team Odds
New Orleans Saints -250
Carolina Panthers +350
Tampa Bay Buccaneers +700
Atlanta Falcons +2000

Odds taken 10/07/19.

How Have Carolina’s Odds Changed?

Carolina Panthers’ odds have drastically changed over the course of the NFL season. Entering Week 1 they were +450, and after starting out 0-2 on September 16 they were as high as +800. Then the winning streak happened which has changed the odds as the week after they shortened to +500, followed by another win to drop to +450, and after the latest win, placing them as +350.

The Panthers’ odds have not been this low since August 26 when they were +410, as even throughout the offseason they were hovering around the +600 mark. So, bettors are starting to see value in them and are betting them up.

Is There Any Value?

I don’t think there is any value on the Carolina Panthers as I don’t believe they have any chance to win the NFC South as that honor goes to the New Orleans Saints.

The Saints are 4-1 and coming off of an impressive win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Their lone loss came at the hands of the Los Angeles Rams and coming up the Saints have a fairly manageable schedule with the Jaguars, Chicago Bears, Arizona Cardinals and then the Falcons which could all be very winnable games.

The Saints also expect quarterback Drew Brees back soon which will only strengthen their odds and their grasp on winning the division.

For the Panthers, they have a schedule upcoming of the Bucs, 49ers, Titans, Packers and Falcons, where they could very well drop a couple games or more during that stretch and hurt their chances. I also don’t trust Carolina’s quarterback play which is a huge reason why I don’t think there is value.

Even though the New Orleans Saints are -250 I think they have the most value as I am certain they will win the division when it is all said and done. And, the Panthers will fall back down to a .500 team that I believe they are.
