The Colts played in Baltimore until 1983. The Ravens have won three of the last four meetings between these two teams.

However, Baltimore has never won a game at Indianapolis. The Colts are 6-0 at home against the Ravens.

Contenders Or Pretenders?

Both Indianapolis and Baltimore are 5-2 and frontrunners for AFC Wildcard playoff berths. However, when their respective records are further dissected, they don’t look nearly as impressive as that number would be indicating.

Baltimore has failed its two toughest tests this season. The Ravens lost at home to the unbeaten Pittsburgh Steelers and the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs.

Their lone victory over a team with a winning record was a Week 1 verdict over the 5-3 Cleveland Browns.

The Colts lost to the Browns and are the only NFL team to lose this season to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Indy’s lone victory of note came against the 5-3 Chicago Bears.

Ball Security An Issue

Reigning NFL MVP Lamar Jackson is 27th in the NFL in passing yardage (1,343) and 30th in completion percentage (60.5). Most concerning, his bad habit of fumbling has returned.

He’s fumbled six times in seven games. In the loss to the Steelers, Jackson fumbled three times. He was also intercepted twice, including a pick six.

Colts QB Philip Rivers has twice led the NFL in interceptions thrown. He was picked off 20 times last season.

So far in 2020, Rivers is responsible for six picks. Four of them came during Indy’s two losses.

Defense Never Rests

The under will be a very tempting play here. These are two of the best defenses in the NFL.

The Ravens are second in the NFL in scoring defense (18.9 points per game) and seventh in total defense (322.9 yards per game), The Colts rate second in total defense (293.4 ypg) and fifth in scoring (19.4 ppg).

Baltimore’s run defense is holding opposing offenses to 100.3 yards per game. Only one back has gone over 75 yards on the ground against the Ravens this season.

COVID-19 Strikes Ravens

Baltimore is among the latest NFL teams to be hit with a COVID-19 outbreak. Ravens starting cornerback Marlon Humphrey is out following a positive test.

He was one of eight Baltimore defensive players currently on the NFL’s COVID-19 reserve list. However, linebacker Matthew Judon was activated from that list.

Six Ravens players are quarantining for five days under league protocols, including starting LB  L.J. Fort and safety DeShon Elliott. All could be activated for Sunday if they test negative again on Saturday.

Baltimore Running back Mark Ingram (high ankle sprain) is doubtful. Cornerback Jimmy Smith (back) is questionable. All-Pro left tackle Ronnie Stanley (ankle) is out for the season.

Colts wide receiver TY Hilton (groin) is listed as doubtful.

Trend Spotting

Baltimore has lost on average by 11.5 points per game at Indianapolis. The opening line on this game was Ravens -3.

Even though their history is spotty in Indy, getting points on the Ravens is a bonus. Take them.

Best Bet: Baltimore Ravens +1 (+100).
