The Pittsburgh Steelers will try to rebound from their first loss of the season when they battle the Buffalo Bills on Sunday Night Football as 2-point road underdogs in the NFL Week 14 odds.
Pittsburgh fell to 11-1 on the season with a stunning 23-17 home loss to the Washington Football Team this past Monday. The Bills closed the gap on the top-seeded Steelers last time out, improving to 9-3 with a decisive 34-24 win over San Francisco.

Pegged as healthy 2.5-point road favorites in the Week 14 opening odds, the Steelers quickly lost ground in the wake of Monday’s loss to Washington. With Sunday night’s matchup marking their third game in just 12 days, the Steelers steadily faded as the week progressed, with the Bills climbing to favorites by as many as 2.5 points before settling back to 2-point chalk.
The Steelers have made just one previous primetime appearance this season, a 26-16 win over the New York Giants on Monday Night Football as 6-point road chalk in Week 1. Overall, Pittsburgh has won three of five contests under the lights, but is just 1-4 in its past five Sunday Night Football appearances, capped by a 17-10 home loss to Buffalo in Week 15 last season.

The Bills’ date with Pittsburgh marks their first home appearance on Sunday Night Football since 2007. Buffalo has made three primetime road appearances this season, capped by last week’s victory over the 49ers as a 1.5-point road underdog. However, the Bills have lost outright at home in their past two, and in seven of nine overall night games at home since 2000.
Schedule Disruptions Catch Up with Steelers
Schedule disruptions finally caught up with the Steelers this past week. Forced to postpone each of their past two contests due to concerns over COVID-19, the team took the field against Washington on just four days rest after seeing their scheduled Thanksgiving matchup with Baltimore pushed back by six days. The Steelers also faced a scheduling nightmare earlier in the season that forced them to take their bye in Week 4 instead of Week 8.

With fatigue a factor, the Steelers generated just 120 yards of total offense after halftime against a stingy Washington defense. Things get no easier this time against Buffalo, which has effectively bogged down opposing offenses in the early going during a 5-1 run. The Bills have surrendered an average of just eight first-half points during their current six-game surge, and allowed opposing offenses to convert on just 12 of 23 drives into the red zone.

Currently riding a 5-0 run on the road, including 4-1 ATS, Pittsburgh has enjoyed a favorable schedule away from Heinz Field. In addition to their season-opening win in New York, the Steelers have visited Jacksonville, Dallas, and the slumping Ravens, but still managed to earn the win by just five or fewer points in three of those contests.
Bills Look For Another Allen Clutch Performance
Conversely, the Bills show signs of gaining momentum after struggling to pay out early in the season. Among their four recent ATS victories are home wins over Seattle and the Los Angeles Chargers by double-digit margins. Quarterback Josh Allen has been key to the Bills resurgence. The third-year pivot connected on four TD passes for the third time this season in last week’s win over San Francisco, and has thrown for 10 scores over the past four outings while adding a pair of scoring runs.

But even fatigued, the Steelers maintain a formidable defense that has given up just six total TDs over the past five games, and limited opposing pivots to 185 yards or less on three occasions during that stretch. With Josh Allen developing a reputation as a passer who thrives in warm weather, playing at home under the lights in chilly conditions could be an issue. However, there is no better time to face Pittsburgh for Buffalo, which should manage to cover in a low-scoring affair.
