Time for a Dak Breakout

Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has not been the same since injuring his calf while throwing the game-winning touchdown pass to beat the New England Patriots in Week 6.

Since connecting on that 35-yarder to CeeDee Lamb, Prescott has averaged 255.0 passing yards a game with nine touchdowns, six interceptions and an 84.9 passer rating in seven games. Prior to the injury, Prescott was averaging 302.2 yards with 16 TDs, 4 INTs and a 115.0 passer rating.

Prescott struggled two weeks ago in a 27-20 victory at Washington as he 22-of-39 passing for 211 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions, including a pick-six.

However, at home against Washington in his career, Prescott has a 4-0 record. He has also accounted for 11 touchdowns – nine passing and two rushing – while not being intercepted.

Washington is 30th in the NFL in pass defense. This seems like a matchup where Prescott can break out of his prolonged slump and reach 300 yards for just the second time in his last eight games.

  • The Pick: Dak Prescott over 276.5 passing yards (-110)

Zeke Getting Healthier

Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott is gamely playing through a knee injury, but it is clear he is hampered.

Elliott has averaged under four yards a carry in six straight games. He also had been below 50 rushing yards in five games in a row until finishing with 51 last week in a win over the New York Giants.

The game against the Giants indicates that Elliott is feeling better.

Despite very un-Zeke-like numbers, Elliott is still finding the end zone. He has rushed for four touchdowns in those last six games.

Let’s take a flier on a healthier Elliott scoring the game’s first touchdown at tempting odds.

  • The Pick: Ezekiel Elliott to score the game’s first TD (+550)
