Eagles vs Buccaneers

The Buccaneers (13-4) ran their winning streak to three games and won for the seventh time in the last eight games when they beat the visiting Carolina Panthers 41-17 at home Sunday.

Tom Brady topped 5,000 yards passing for the second time in his career. The 44-year-old quarterback completed 29 of 37 passes for 326 yards and three touchdowns to finish with a career-best 5,316 yards and a franchise record 43 TD passes.

Mike Evans caught two of Brady’s TD passes, giving him a club-record 14 scoring receptions this year. Evans also became the first player in NFL history to begin a career with eight consecutive seasons with at least 1,000 yards receiving.

The Eagles (9-8) lost to the Dallas Cowboys 51-26 Saturday night to end their four-game winning streak.

The Eagles rested starting quarterback Jalen Hurts, who has been bothered by an ankle injury during the last third of the season. Gardner Minshew II took Hurts’ place and completed 19 of 33 passes for 186 yards and two touchdowns with one interception.

Look for this spread to potentially go up because the public loves betting on Brady.

49ers vs Cowboys

The rout of the Eagles gave the Cowboys their fifth win in the last six games as Dak Prescott threw a career-high five touchdown passes, two each to Cedrick Wilson and Dalton Schultz.

Prescott stayed in the game until the fourth quarter despite the risk of injury nearly 15 months removed from the compound fracture of his right ankle that ended his 2020 season.

Prescott was 21 of 27 for 295 yards and no interceptions. He set the Cowboys’ record for touchdown passes in a season with 37. Tony Romo threw 36 in 2007.

The 49ers clinched their playoff spot in dramatic fashion Sunday, rallying from a 17-0 deficit to beat the Los Angeles Rams 27-24 in overtime on the road. It was San Francisco’s second win in a row and fourth in five games.

Robbie Gould’s 24-yard field goal with 2:45 left broke a 24-24 tie then Ambry Thomas had a game-ending interception.

Jauan Jennings caught a 14-yard touchdown pass from Jimmy Garoppolo with 26 seconds left in regulation for the 49ers to force OT. That helped San Francisco reach the postseason for just the second time in eight years.

The three-point spread is surprisingly low. Like Brady, the Cowboys are betting favorites and this line seems headed upward.

Cardinals vs Rams

The overtime defeat ended the Rams’ five-game winning streak. However, they won when the NFC West when the Cardinals lost to Seattle Seahawks 38-30 at home.

So, the Rams had at least something to still celebrate

The Cardinals (11-6) go skidding into the postseason with four losses in their last five games. They are also 4-6 since starting the season with seven consecutive wins.

The Cardinals gave up 190 yards rushing to Rashaad Penny. The Seahawks’ Russell Wilson threw three touchdown passes.

The three-point spread seems right on the money and it would be a surprise if there was much movement.

Steelers vs Chiefs

The Chiefs finished the regular season with nine wins in 10 games after beating the Denver Broncos 28-24 on Saturday.

Rookie linebacker Nick Bolton’s 86-yard fumble return for a touchdown after Melvin Ingram III stripped Melvin Gordon III gave the Chiefs their 13th consecutive victory over the Broncos.

The Broncos were ahead 21-20 and driving for another touchdown when Ingram sped past tight end Noah Fant and blew up the play just as Drew Lock handed the ball to Gordon. Bolton scooped up the loose ball and rumbled nearly the length of the field to give the Chiefs their biggest lead. Patrick Mahomes’ keeper on the two-point conversion made it 28-21.

The Steelers beat the Ravens 17-14 on overtime on Sunday in Denver then got the help they needed when the two-touchdown underdog Jacksonville Jaguars upset the Colts, eliminating Indianapolis from playoff contention.

Chris Boswell made a 36-yard field goal with 1:56 remaining to win it for the Steelers. Ben Roethlisberger, who is likely to retire at the end of the season, set up the winning kick by completing a 10-yard pass over the middle to Ray-Ray McCloud on fourth-and-8 from the Baltimore 41.

The Steelers have won three of their last four games, though the loss in that span was 36-10 pasting by the Chiefs in Kansas City. Based off that game, the 13-point spread in the rematch is understandable but the Steelers have a national following and their backers are likely to bet that number down.

Patriots vs Bills

The Bills wrapped up the regular season with a 27-10 over the visiting New York Jets on Sunday to clinch their second consecutive AFC East title run their winning streak to four games.

Devin Singletary scored twice in the last 8:21 to seal the victory.

The Bills limited the Jets to a franchise-low 53 yards of total offense and four first downs. Buffalo also sacked Jets rookie Zach Wilson nine times.

The Patriots go into the postseason having lost three of their last four games following Sunday’s 33-24 defeat against the Dolphins in Miami.

Brandon Bolden starred for the Patriots with two touchdowns. He had one rushing and another receiving.

The Patriots were swept by the Dolphins for the first time since 2000.

The opening number of the Bills as 4.5-point favorites might be a tad high. Look it for it to go down 0.5 point or so.

Raiders vs Bengals

With both teams battling for a playoff berth, the Raiders beat the visiting Los Angeles Chargers 35-32 in overtime on Daniel Carlson’s 47-yard field goal as time expired.

It was Carlson’s fifth field goal of the game, two of which came in overtime, as he helped the Raiders extend their winning streak to four games.

Derek Carr completed 20 of 36 passes for 186 yards and two touchdowns, both to Hunter Renfrow. Josh Jacobs carried 26 times for 132 yards.

The Raiders led 29-14 in the fourth quarter before the Chargers rallied to force OT.

With nothing but seeding to play for after having clinched the AFC North crown the previous, the Bengals lost 21-16 to the Browns in Cleveland. That ended Cincinnati’s three-game winning streak.

The Bengals rested quarterback Joe Burrow to get ready for their first playoff appearance since 2015.

Brandon Allen started at QB and threw a 4-yard touchdown pass to Chris Evans with 2:26 left to draw the Bengals with five points. Allen was 15-of-29 passing for 136 yards and the TD.

The six-point spread seems like the right number in this matchup.
