Something will have to give on Martin Luther King Day in the United States when the Flyers and Bruins hook up for an afternoon battle on the holiday. Both sides are playing some terrific hockey with Philly winning seven of their last eight and Boston emerging with victories in five of their past six games.

Faceoff for this one is scheduled for 1:00 pm ET at TD Garden in Boston. The game will be broadcast on NESN and NBC Sports Philadelphia in the US and Sportsnet in Canada.

With just one regulation loss at home this season, the Bruins are heavy -320 favorites in the NHL odds against Philly. More Flyers vs Bruins odds, plus our betting advice and pick can be seen below.

Oddsmakers aren’t giving much love to the Broad Street bullies despite their spectacular play recently. As -320 moneyline favorites, the Bruins have a 76.19% implied win probability, with the Flyers probability for victory at just 28.57% with +250 straight up odds.

Flyers Big Underdogs in NHL Odds

If they were to take a peak at how they’ve been handicapped in the NHL betting lines for this game, the Flyers might be extra motivated to prove the sportsbooks wrong. John Tortorella’s squad didn’t look like they were going anywhere, but since the holiday break, they’ve really turned their play around.

Philly owned an 11-17-7 record prior to Christmas, but since then, they are an incredible 7-1-0, winning five of those contests when they were the underdogs.

Keeping pucks out of the net has been a key to the Flyers’ recent fortunes. If you take away that one loss, a 6-2 defeat to the Maple Leafs, Philly has given up just 12 goals in their seven victories.

Of course, they’ll be in tough against a Boston side that is first overall in the NHL and the current betting favorite in the Stanley Cup odds. The Bruins are coming off a playoff-like 4-3 win over the Maple Leafs where Matt Grzelcyk scored the game-winner with just over a minute left in regulation.

Boston is 5-1 in the new year, allowing just two goals per game since the calendar flipped to January. Defense has been the main reason for the Bruins success this season, as they are the best in the league by a wide margin, allowing just 2.17 goals per game. No other squad in the NHL allows under two and a half goals per contest.

Pastrnak and Konecny Among January NHL Goal Leaders

If you’re searching for some NHL player prop bets, look no further than David Pastrnak and Travis Konecny, two of the best goal producers in the new year.

NHL Goal Leaders – January

Player Goals Games Played Goals Per Game
David Pastrnak (BOS) 8 6 1.33
Jack Hughes (NJ) 8 7 1.14
Travis Konecny (PHI) 6 6 1.00
Tim Stutzle (OTT) 6 6 1.00
Kevin Fiala (LA) 6 6 1.00

**Three Others Tied with 6 Goals**

In particular, Pasta has been on a ridiculous tear, finding the back of the net eight times in his last five games alone. It’s unlikely anybody will get within reach of Connor McDavid in the Hart Trophy odds, but the Bruins sniper is now just four back of the Oilers captain in the Rocket Richard race.

Konecny has taken his game to new heights under Tortorella. Overall, he has tallied 10 times in his last nine games and really been leading the charge for the Flyers. Having already notched 46 points in 37 games, he is on pace to destroy his career high of 61 points set in the 2019-20 season.

Flyers vs Bruins Pick and Prediction

These sides met once already this year, a 4-1 Boston win two months ago. That contest was also in Boston, where the under has hit nine out of the last 12 times these teams went head-to-head.

Flyers vs Bruins Same-Game Parlay Picks

Pick Odds
Under 6 Goals -115
Travis Konecny +1 Total Points -135
David Pastrnak To Score -125
PARLAY ODDS  +575

Although the Bruins went over the total in the NHL odds in their last game against the Maple Leafs, you’d have to go back to November to find the last time they hit the over in consecutive contests.

Against a revitalized Flyers team that’s playing its best hockey of the year, we expect this one to be a low-scoring affair with few mistakes. Our prediction in the Flyers vs Bruins odds is for this game to finish with under six total goals.

Flyers vs Bruins Pick: Under 6 Goals (-115)
