We’ve basically got a pick’em here between two teams with high expectations this season. With moneyline odds of -115, Vegas has  an implied win probability of 53.49% while the Oilers are also above the midway line with odds of -105 giving them an implied probability of 51.22% to win at home.

Picking the Over a Good Bet in Golden Knights vs Oilers Odds

While there’s not much to pick between these two squads on the ice, they definitely share a common trait early in this NHL season, and that’s scoring goals. Vegas ranks sixth in the league with 3.61 goals per game, while the Oilers sit right below them with an average of 3.53 goals per game.

A fully healthy Jack Eichel has been a force for Vegas and seems to be intent in climbing the ladder in the Hart Trophy odds as he goes head-to-head against two of the top contenders for that award in Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. Eichel ranks amongst the top 20 in the league with 10 goals and 21 points.

Edmonton’s offense has taken a bit of a step back of late, putting up more than three goals in just one of their last four contests. Connor McDavid began the season as the third betting favorite in the Rocket Richard Trophy odds, but is the early season leader in snipes with 15.

The Oilers captain has gone goalless in back-to-back games for only the second time so far this year so expect him to come out firing as he gets set for a date at home with the Western Conference leaders.

Golden Knights Great Road Bet In NHL Odds

Not only has Vegas jumped out to a great start to the year, but they’ve also been more dominant away from home. The Golden Knight have a record of 8-1-0 away from T-Mobile Arena, good for the best in the league. In their last five road games, Vegas has scored 25 goals, an average of five per game.

Balanced scoring has been a key to their offense, with eight players having scored four or more goals so far. Translated to a full season, that would give them eight guys who would finish with 18 or more goals. It’s not likely to continue the rest of the way, but still an encouraging sign for a team with high expectations.

Their Stanley Cup odds have shortened to +1300 from the start of the season. It appears as if last year’s disappointment has totally been swept away.

Golden Knights vs Oilers Pick & Prediction

The Oilers had the upper hand in head-to-head meetings between these two sides last year, winning three out of four games, while winning one out of the two home games at Rogers Place

Curiously enough, three out of the four times these teams faced each other last season ended up with them going under the betting total. However, Vegas had a lot of their top players injured last year and Eichel was only available for one of those contests.

Stuart Skinner will get the call in goal for the Oilers as it appears he may be taking over the reins as the number one netminder in the Alberta capital. Offseason signing, Jack Campbell has struggled mightily with a 4.27 goals against and .873 save percentage.

The 24-year-old Skinner has fared much better, but his numbers have also suffered this month. After posting a 1.59 goals against and .955 save percentage in October, he’s got a 3.32 GAA and .912 save percentage while seeing more action this month.

Superstars enjoy trying to one-up their opponents so that’s another reason why the expectation is we’re in for a treat and lots of goals tonight. In the Saturday NHL odds, the best bet to make is to pick over 6.5 goals in the Golden Knight vs Oilers odds.

Pick: Over 6.5 Goals (-105)
