Halfway through the year, the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins are two of the top three teams in the NHL and will faceoff on Saturday, January 14th from TD Garden in Boston. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 pm ET for a game that will be broadcast on CBC and Sportsnet in Canada.

Owners of the league’s best record, Boston will seek revenge on a Leafs squad who dealt them one of just five regulation losses this season, back in November. With a stellar 19-1-3 home mark, the Bruins are -155 favorites in the NHL odds for this division clash.

More of the Maple Leafs vs Bruins odds can be checked out below. We’ll analyze this matchup and give you our pick and prediction as to what wager we feel is most likely to come through in this battle.

In spite of the fact they’re playing one of the best teams in the league, oddsmakers don’t see the Bruins losing a second consecutive contest at home.

As -155 chalk, Boston has an implied win probability of 60.78%. On the other side, the Leafs probability for victory is 42.55% as they sit at +135 on the moneyline.

Bruins Coming Off First Regulation Home Loss

It took until exactly the halfway mark of their season, but the Bruins just lost their first game as hosts in regulation time. Not only did they lose, but they got shutout 3-0, by the second-year Seattle Kraken. Each of the four times Boston has lost at home this season, they’ve rebounded with a win.

Unsurprisingly, they begin the second half of the year, as the chalk in the Stanley Cup odds. This comes after starting the season sitting just outside the top 10 contenders amongst most sportsbooks.

While it’s highly unlikely they repeat their first half, which has them on pace to set a new NHL regular season points record, they are fairly healthy after beginning the season with key injuries. So who knows, it might be a record-setting campaign for the B’s.

Linus Ullmark has come out of virtually nowhere to perch himself atop all goaltenders in the Vezina Trophy odds, while leading the league in basically every key statistical category.

When making a wager on the Bruins, you should definitely factor in whether the Swedish netminder gets the call in goal or not. The Bruins have dropped just three games that Ullmark has started this season, an 88% success rate.

Will Auston Matthews Return vs Bruins?

Reigning 60-goal man Auston Matthews has sat out the Maple Leafs’ last two contests with an illness and undisclosed injury. Early reports suggest he’ll be back in action Saturday night for a date with one of the team’s biggest nemesis.

After an MVP season, Matthews’ Hart Trophy odds have lengthened dramatically since the preseason. By his standards, he’s off to a slow start with just 20 goals up to this point. It would take a massive second half for him to hit the 50-goal mark.

Despite their impressive 26-10-7 overall record, the Buds are just 17-26 against the spread this season. However, they are a perfect 5-0 against the puck line when handicapped as the underdogs. Apparently, they like to play up, or down, to their competition.

They did win as favorites in their only previous matchup with the Bruins this season, back in November.

In fact, surprising as it may be given all the heartbreak Leafs fans have endured at the hands of the Bruins over the last decade, Toronto has taken four straight matchups against Boston.

Maple Leafs vs Bruins Pick & Prediction

Following their worst home game of the year, oddsmakers fully expect a positive response from the Bruins and this is reflected in the Saturday NHL odds for this contest.

Toronto would be wise to keep an eye on sniper David Pastrnak in this one. Prior to the shutout loss to the Kraken, the marksman had found the back of the net seven times in his previous three games to move into the second spot among NHL goal leaders.

Leafs vs Bruins Same-Game Parlay Picks

Pick Odds
Maple Leafs +1.5 -185
Under 6.5 Goals -140
PARLAY ODDS  +160

Overall on the season, Boston has gone under 60% of the time when they’re the betting favorite, while the Maple Leafs have gone below the betting total in 80% of their games when they are the underdog.

This game may be a playoff preview where both sides want to be at their best, so it would be a surprise if this was anything but a low-scoring affair.

Both teams will lean on their stars to find the twine, but our best bet and prediction in the Maple Leafs vs Bruins odds is to place a wager on under 6 total goals on Saturday night.

Leafs vs Bruins Pick: Under 6 Goals (-110)
